Daughter #1 lost her first tooth this morning at breakfast. I knew it was coming, but had given very little thought to the consequences.

Can any parents help me determine the current Tooth Exchange Index?

When I was a kid, it was a quarter, but I assume it's more now.

Don't leave change leave only money that folds and no checks. A dollar or two should suffice.

We give all of our kids $5 for each tooth, but that's just us...For our girls, we also give them Barbie Tooth Fairy Dolls, which you can only get on E-bay now...The boy hasn't lost any yet, but I'd imagine he'll get a HotWheels car or something...

I used to get Hot Wheels, but I don't know how cool Hot Wheels are considered now.

    $5 a tooth?!?!? That's $20 for four teeth! I think not!

At most, give 'em a Sacajaweiah (sp?) dollar for each tooth.

I lost a tooth in Tucumcari, NM, one time after a Sugar Daddy had pulled it loose in Childress, TX. After I finally got up the nerve to pull that badboy myself, my parents gave me $20 to spend on our vacation. Sweet.

OK, rimrocker has a daughter less than 10 years old, so he's probably in his early 30's right now, let's say 32 for argument's sake. He probably started losing his teeth about 24 years ago, so that would be around the early 80's...

OK, $5 for the first tooth and either $1 or $2 for each additional tooth. That averages out to about $1.25 to $2 and change per tooth. We'll say that's $1.50 per tooth today just to get a nice, even number.

$1.25/.25 equals a 500% increase in tooth prices in just 20 years. Going by that inflation rate, teeth will be going for about $7.50 in 20 years or so. There has to be an investment opportunity there somewhere.

Maybe we can get legislation passed that will allow for the 32k investment fund. It will work just like your 401k fund but can only be drawn upon to pay for lost teeth. Think of the opportunities for brokerage houses!

I have 2 kids but they aren't close to loosing teeth just yet.

My plans are dollar for the first, 2 for the second, three for the third then top it off at 5 or so.

We do $2 a tooth but since my friend figured out how to burn X-Box games and make them work so I think his next tooth is going to yield an X-Box.

Tooth fairy exchange rate? That's funny.

When my son lost his first tooth I beat him to a pulp 'cuz we were in no position financially for him to be losing anything. Laws of nature be damned I can't afford to be buying applesauce just beacuse my kid can't chew solids! He went ahead and lost another and it was on! I took that kid to the woodshed over that second tooth. I told him he bes' ebay that sucker cuz the tooth fairy is MIA. After three and four my knuckles were getting sore from the punches so I threw him in the basement for a couple months.

    He's still there.

Actually I'm in the $5 diminishing crowd. 1st one was 5 and then two bux after that.

I gave my daughter a Sacagawea dollar the first time she lost a tooth. She thought it was a quarter. :(

I gave her a $2 bill one time ... she thought that was pretty cool.

Just tell the little bastards to wake up and realize that there is no tooth fairy. Either that, or she just doesn't like them. ;)
