I know that this has been discussed at naseum, but I think the time is now to trade Cuttino Mobley. I was against this at the beginning of the year because of his relationship with Steve, but now it seems like those two are not as close as before. If we trade Cuttino now, it would help many things such as: 1. Yao's development. He would move to the number two option on our offense, which would create more opportunities for him 2. Clubhouse. He always seems to say things that are indictative of a clubhouse cancer. 3. Ball Movement. No longer would we have him as a black hole for our offense.
That's what I said in my thread. But we can't trade him NOW. The trade deadline. It's too late to make any trades. We have to wait until after the season ends.
I think we all take Cat for granted. Although he may be stunting the growth of our younger players at times, he sometimes single handedly keeps us in games at others. It may seem like we have a lof of fire power with Steve, Yao, Posey, and Mo all taking many shots but it never seems like we have them all scoring at the same time (except in a game like last night). Through this, Mobley has proven to be our most consistent scorer. We are not yet ready to give up his 20pts a game. If we were perhaps to get a player such as Brent Barry or Jon Barry or whoever else it may be, I think the players on our team would have to make a huge adjustment offensively. It would be much easier to try to turn Cat into a player who is much more aware of his teammates abilities and finds ways to feed off of their abilities as opposed to going one on one 100% of the time. Even if he does not turn into this player, he remains one of the best one on one players in the game and this skill, although being overused now, will be needed eventually.
Trade deadline has passed, were u even a NBA fan before this season? That being said, I would really like mobley moving to the bench and bring in Hawkins to start.
You know what? I noticed this as well: Francis and Yao are developing together on the court and it doesn't seem like Mobley and Francis are as close as year's past. Which is why sometimes Cat might give Yao a back-handed compliment in the press or doesn't back Yao as much as Stevie does for ROY and stuff like that. Remember all the talk used to be about the "potent" backcourt of the Rox and Franchise and Cat or Wink and Cat. But now its the Franchise and Dynasty or Fred Carter saying how Mobley needs to be the one really reducing his role. But remember, we can't trade Cat now -- deadline has passed.
