I liked it a lot - very funny, though like people say it drops off some after a while. It's hard to keep that kind of intensity throughout. A lot to laugh out loud about. I would have liked to see more of the other Springfield characters - some who were barely seen (Burns & Smithers, Moe, Santa's Little Helper, Principal Skinner, Apu).
The Simpsons was an ok movie. The openning, the spider pig and the dog sled scenes were a hoot! I reckon if the Groening and Lucas did the Simpsons Star Wars style, the gags would have been limitless!
I went to the 11 AM showing yesterday morning and there were lots of kids in there. After the scene where Homer is walking through the snow and Bart starts clapping, some kid in the back started clapping repeatedly for the next five minutes.
I think we all know that. Thanks for stating the obvious. You've really put on a show trolling this thread.
Well im going to check this flick out tonight. This thread and all the other reviews on this film have realllllly got me interested in it. Was a BIG simpsons fans but stopped watching when things went down hill... & I wasn't planning on watching the movie but heyy its looks like a MUST SEE!
I feel the same and still watch new episodes and reruns from time to time. At least it wasn't disappointing, which means they did something right with all the high expectations loaded on this flick. The raunchy parts were okay to me even if I think it's too lowbrow on tv episodes. I liked it when homer flicked them off. Animated profanity. L O L
I wasn't too happy with Fox's marketing because it seemed they were releasing some of the best gags in the trailers...like spider pig...that scene lost all hilarity by the time I saw it in the theater. As a whole though the movie was good...it was pretty funny throughout and had a few laugh out loud moments (not insanely lol moments though). The plot was fairly original for a Simpsons but still there were things that have been touched on before (homer having an epiphany, homer screwing up, bart wishing he had another dad). And honestly, with the amount of times Homer has screwed up, why the hell hasn't Marge left him for good...and to that effect, things are tied up a little too nice in the end. Is it DVD worthy...I dunno...but was it better than I thought it'd be...yes...it probably would have worked even better as a Series finale type movie.
