Agreed. The "I'm too cool for The Simpsons Movie" schtick is lame.

if i remember correctly, the reason that happened was that they had intended to have Arnold do the voice, think the film went into production and they expected him to do it but he ended up pulling out at the last second. So you had a situation where it was more work to go back and change it then to just leave it alone

It also helps that they brought back a lot of writers from what some consider the "golden age" of simpsons episodes

exactly! thats more reason why it shouldve been president reineer wolfcastle...but i guess GRENAL's reason is why that didnt happen. However, they shouldve thought of that in the first place

I thought the movie was entertaining, certainly worth my time. This is coming from a Simpsons fan, however, I went with someone who didn't watch the Simpsons ever and she didn't like it, I could understand that.

i dont think it really matters one way or another. wolfcastle = arnold..

a meathead by any other name would be just as buff and speak just as poorly

naw...i think it does matter. it matters to the hardcore simpsons fans...arnold scharwnegger is not a simpsons character. you cant just draw reineer wolfcastle and all of sudden call him arnold....
burns or fat tony shouldve been the villan. you cant go wrong with burns....

It was my sisters' birthday, so my whole family decided to do the movie/dinner deal. It was a good movie. My mom never cared for the Simpsons, and she was laughing in the movie (especially Homer's middle finger while going down the sink hole). Ralph's "I like men now!" was great. The part when Bart was skateboarding was funny, too. You didn't expect what had happened towards the end of his ride.

I would assume that they thought, esp. considering the massive list of A list actors they've had do voices, that they never believed it'd be an issue, just my thought on the matter

I'm a Simpsons fan and I thought the movie sucked ass. Blow me if you disagree :)

    ---

The debut was $20 million more than the most optimistic projections — and was validation for writers who were panic-stricken about alienating the show's rabid fans. The script went through 158 drafts.

"Most mornings I've been alternating between waking up confident and waking up drenched in flop sweat," Simpsons director David Silverman said before the opening. "When a show has been around 18 years, it's hard to overestimate how high expectations are."

    ---

It will be validation if a sequel does well. I expected more.

but reineer is just a characture...i hardly think its anything for 'hardcore' fans to get all up in arms about. Unless you want to be that guy,

thats the problem about making a movie like this...its virtually impossible to meet expectations.
