I have never been asked to show my ID to vote. I wouldn’t care if I asked to show my ID to vote. But if you require an ID to vote, then you have to provide the ID and any replacements for free. I am sure if you run the numbers, it’s actually cheaper to run it how we do vs the number of fraudulent votes being cast that would be prevented since they’re highly unlikely to affect the outcome of the election.

You obviously have never had anyone try to prevent you from Voting. ID office .. . .esp in rural areas are sometimes not easy to get to esp for the elderly and infirmed Then you get to polling place and they lie and say you not on the roll./ . . or you need to go to a different precinct or it's expired. . . .. or you don't look like Tanaka! Since I was stuck helping get my mom her Real ID update since her state ID went missing while she was hospitalized, I can say it was a pain in the ass. Between requesting certified marriage/divorce certificates and getting a new certified copy of her birth certificate, I spent about $100 to get her application ready. The actual process itself was painless.
