He's going to suprise a lot of people. He was great in the Lakers vs Sixers Finals. He's always agressive. Never lets others get in his head. He has the same heart and desire that Earl Boykins does. Always focused on the game. Whatever you do, don't trash talk Lue (or Boykins). They just smile and drive past you.
I've seen him play for Miami. He's not what we need. He isn't as good as those others at controlling the ball. And he's not a terrific 3 point shooter. And his D isn't great. That means he doesn't fit our criteria. He's a not-terrible PG that will make rosters on teams without anything better.
1st: Snow (exellent D) 2nd: Fisher (Experience, great fit for this system) 3rd: Arroyo (this pg is gaining my favor fast)
McGrady not as good defensively as Mobley? Please, just because he played for the Rockets doesn't mean we have to lie to ourselves here. McGrady is a better defender than Mobley will ever be, I've seen him do some crazy $hit on D before.
mobley held kobe to 33% shooting t-mac got shut down and got 37 points dropped on him in one half. Mobley was a good defender.
Barry or Fisher as starter. Jones or Arroyo as backup. Let Lue go. As far as D goes. Mobley improved greatly this year as did Cato and to some degree everyone on the team. Credit VG for that. VG will get more from TMac and Howard then they have give elsewhere. Bet on it. Like wise with Barry. VG will put this guy in a position to be better on D.
No way Arroyo wants to sign with us to be a backup. He succeeded Stockton in Utah as the starter last year and did really well. He has the ability to start start on most NBA teams now.
Give me Fisher and Lue. Drop Spoons contract somehow, and bring in Barry for 6th man. PG-Fisher, Lue, Barry SG-T-Mac, Barry SF-Jackson, Boki, Barry PF-Howard, Taylor C-Yao, Padgett
If we got Barry and someone like Turkoglu we would have three deadly 3 point shooters (including JJ). Not to mention McGrady.
Barry vs Arroyo in a very tight race. People, keep it coming. Looks like Fisher is the ultimate winner.
If I was Les, all things being equal, I'd go with the Latin player. Anything that helps sell tickets is a good thing. It's not like Arroyo sucks. He's already good, and almost a decade younger than Barry. Though, Barry is 4 inches taller, and wouldn't that help with passes to Yao.
Now it's almost a 3 way race between Fisher, Barry and Arroyo. Now, let's get all of them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Is it the poor shooting that scares away the Rockets, from this guy? Supposedly he can be had for a six year mid level contract.
More like the style of play. Tends to be a little selfish. More of 2 than a 1. Not turnover prone, which I like, but probably not the best fit next to T-Mac... Not a great shooter. We need someone like Barry who relishes the role of third option.
They will offer Arroyo the last because he is a restrict agent. It does not do us any good place the offer right now and we still have to wait until July 15.
