Alot of folx want yao to be THE MAN lot of touches . . more shots ect. What are you expectations Someone post they expect 19.something and 9.8 rebs I EXPECT MORE THAN THAT FROM THE FRICKIN MAN Yao will need to Average 21~23 pts, 13 rbs, and at least 5~6 asst [since he is the greatest passing center since walton] Hell I expect a block or two a game His numbers should be equal or better than Francis's this year A Dominant big man . .. NEEDS TO DOMINATE Rocket River
I'm not sure if Yao is ready for 30-40 touches a game yet. If anything they should ease hiim into being "the man." Last year, we lost a lot of games because Yao was unable to be "the man." He would turn it over or wait too long to pass out of double teams. I'm sure Ewing could help him with that I suppose, but by the time he is truly ready to be the man, I expect 21pt, 12reb, 4ast, 2.5blk.
i expect yao to be 24 points 13 rebounds 4 assists 2,5 blocks i think he will be dominant. but not this year, he needs some years to develop, but i also didn't think he wou;ld do this good this year, so maybe i'm wrong, and he wil be dominant this year.
Rudy tried easing him into the role but folx here Crucified him the said the guards were selfish blah blah blah The idea is when Gumby gets here . . . BOOM Yao gets 20 shots a night. Last year Yao was tired some. . . and rudy recognized it steve recognized it .. . the team lost . . and everyone said yao didn't get his touches. . . It seems everyone wants to force feed Yao the ball ASIDE: Is Menke Bateer the 1st asian with a ring? Rocket River
I think he's closer to 3-4 blocks than 5 or 6 assists. I expect to see 19.9 pts, 9.9 reb, 3asst, 2.5blk
Yao shot better than 50% of his shots last season, and I think he was at around 15 shots a game. I think it's safe to expect 20 shots, and he makes half.
Tim Duncan is: 23.3 pts 3 TO 2.5 Blks 3.2 assts 12.3 rebs 51.3% from the field I don't think it is unreasonable to expect as much from Yao so I'd say: Yao should be about 20~22 pts 2 blks 3 assts 12 rebounds 49 % from the field Are those numbers unrealistic? Rocket River
I expect Yao to be around 17pts, 9 boards, 2 blocks,3 assists. I'm not as confident as some, but I think he'll do better than last year in all areas.
I believe that he is. You know that he will be letting Yao know it this summer with the CNT. But ours is coming.
How many minutes did he play? Was he on the active roster even? Tough to get in Yao's face with Bateers's stat no-line.
So basically, you're expecting Yao to match the Finals MVP's numbers? No way we can expect 20 and 10, which is why my expectations are JUST below. I'm HOPING he'll surprise us, but realistic expectations would say he's not going to be a 20/10 on average. Duncan averages 3.2 assists, with a team that's amazing at shooting 3's. I see no way Yao can do it with this cast. Unless we get Wes Person, Brent Barry, or Micheal Redd.
If Yao averages less than 18 pts, 10 rebs, 2.5 blocks and 2.5 assists, I will be somewhat disappointed. His scoring will come IMO. However, I expect a big improvement in his defense and rebounding. No more getting pushed around next year.

Bingo, if we don't improve our shooting then his numbers will be low. I believe he absolutely has the ability to average 5 assists a game with a better shooting cast around. BTW, this also goes for Francis. he made some pretty good passes that should have gone for assists, but the shots were bricked. Just an observation.
Yao Ming is not ready to be the Leader of the Rockets! He is not NBA ready! After another two seasons then he might be ready.
Yes, they are unrealistic. I'd say 16 pts, 3 blks, 2 asts, 11 rebs, but at least 55 % from the field.
He's got a ring the way Larry Robinson and Eric Riley have one. From sitting on their asses in street clothes.
Umm, I thought these expectations were not confined to just the next year but what Yao is one day capable of. I don't think it is unrealistic for yao to average over 5 assist a game, the dude loves to pass and given the touches, he will pass to anyone who is open.
I just want him to stop blowing layups. He is 7'5" tall with a 9'6" reach. He only has 6 inches to get to the rim. "Throw it down big man. Throw it down"
Yao also knows how to pass, so getting the ball in the offense has two dimensions. If Francis gets the ball it is usually only one dimension. At else Yao can find Francis open by passing.
