I don't remember seeing a pick, but I could be wrong. We were on the floor on the other side, but Tracy was CLEARLY fouled on the shot. It's EXTREMELY clear; I'll post the video my friend took with his camera once he gets it up. Smacked on the wrist... no call. Bad refs. Bad.
It is all on Adelman on this any knucklehead would know not to call a pick and roll with 5 seconds left especially when the 2nd defender is only in the league because of his defense. I was really tempted to bring back up the Fire Adelman thread but I will give him this month. Right now our defense is terrible, our offense looked good in the first half with great ball movement, but once again was no where to be seen in the 4th quarter. Get your act together Rick!
I'd like to see von wafer play with T-mac more...especially in crunch time. Yao had a miserable game but he's allowed to have a few especially after coming back from a bruised knee. I can't figure out what's wrong with this team...because looking at the game i didn't see any of the complaints there. There was ball movement tonight, there was t-mac passing a lot more. He was actually cutting without the ball! Rafer found him for a couple of alley-opps. Well he did miss them. We just missed a lot of shots. God man, that uncalled goal-tending really sucked. And yao shouldn't miss a free throw in the last minute - that really hurt. But adelman has to take some blame for this one...that's why with 28 seconds left you don't try to play defense because even if you succeed you only have 5 seconds left to do something on the other end. Better to foul and then get the quick two. Or if you are going to do that, geez, pick n roll with 5 seconds left??????
Honestly, I don't think a pull up jumper at the top of the key for McGrady is a bad shot. The PnR offers a number of options, and that's not a terrible one. Dalembert made a great play to contest and tip it; so credit to him.
Not for his pick and roll defense but 5 seconds everyone knows Tmac only has one option and that is pull for the jumper, and Dalembert is smart enough to pick up on that. It would take at least 2 seconds for Tmac to go around Yao and his man leaving no time to drive. Had they inbounded directly to Tmac and Isoed then they would have time to drive but Tmac had to turn away from the basket to receive the inbounds pass. Just a terrible pathetic play call. Adelman FORCED Tmac to shoot over a taller and more athletic defender.
Dude, not to make excuses for Yao, but he was getting hammered downlow. They were getting away with murder. I was 3 rows above Yao's parents and now I know where he gets his calmness from. They never cheered, just laughed at him one time when the rebound went through his hands and hit him on the head. Have to save, Dal was very physical with Yao today.
Did he have time? Seemed like the buzzard sounded while his shot was in the air. I don't know if there was time.
They wasted too much time setting up the pick n roll, but Tracy still had more time than he realized. He could at least fake, dribble once, or do something to get a better look before he threw up that shot. It was just a badly executed play. I can't believe that we still don't have a "last play" set up this deep into the season.
i would like to see Wafer AND Barry play more with Tmac. Id be willing to put Tmac with the 2nd squad to make that happen. Tmac can hold the ball to make plays, Wafer will cut every single time and Barry is more than willing to make that extra pass. Not to mention Barry and Wafer are great shooters.
He had plenty of time.....but he went for the hero shot instead. It goes...hero...it misses...well..... DD
There would have been time if he had the explosiveness to get through the seam. If the timing of the play was slightly different, maybe it would happened. As it was, it didn't appear to me like he had a good enough angle to make the drive going left, and he doesn't have enough strength in his left knee to explode going to his right. So he took the shot. That's how I interpreted it.
He settled.....and got his stuff blocked...that is how I saw it. Not blaming the game on him but I would liked to have a player that can drive in that situation. DD
We can argue about the last play all we want but the Rockets lost this game because they didn't do the little things and the simple things to win this game. -Missed layups -Bad Passes -Defensive rebounding in the 4th qt.
Dude 52 points given up in the paint...how can you leave out the most important thing they did badly? Transition D. DD
Unfortunately thats not how it goes down, when the defenders switch, which is why this play call was completly idiotic. Instead of having a smaller and skinnier defender, Adelman went with the taller bigger guy. You need at least 8 seconds to run the pick and roll effectively, so that the player setting the screen can still roll to the basket.
DD I would be posting all night if I went through every detail lol. Transition D was definitely bad. I think it is time to get Deke a few minutes in when Yao is in on the bench to stop teams from getting points in the paint. I just brought up the simple stuff that the Rockets messed up on. One play Yao just let Dalembert get a rebound and didn't jump or box out. Then he got the rebound but passed it straight to Thaddeus Young. Early in the game T-mac blew a few easy baskets because he couldn't hold on to the ball, same with Yao. Another frustrating loss.
