Well, I finally came down with this god-awful crap Monday night. Missed work Tuesday and Wednesday. Ran 102.5 fever on Monday. Fever broke overnight Monday night. Been fighting a sore throad and congestion since. I have to be careful because I am very prone to get ear infections in which the fluid that builds up causes by left ear to go deaf. Very un-fom-fotable ! The only way to prevent this from happening, once I get sick, is to pound down both the Antihistamines and the Decongestants, and the double whammy makes me a walking zombie. Anyone else had the pleasure of this %&%%&*%* crap yet this season????
I started coughing hard last Thurs. afternoon (2/3) Came into the office Friday morning and left after about an hour or so. Fever went to 103...and it wouldn't break. 48 consecutive hours above 101. Bad congestion and cough. Fever finally broke, and I came back to the office for a half day yesterday. My family has it now. My oldest son got it on Sunday and stayed with me in my room. My wife felt run down but never had a high fever...she did have the congestion/cough. My baby seems to have avoided everything but a slight cough, which is a huge blessing. Yeah...the flu sucks. And this is so ridiculously contagious.
We have 4 guys out at the office and I am still battling Bronchitis....3 weeks now... Getting better, but man...IT SUCKS !! DD
My wife had it last weekend. She passed it to me and the kids on Monday. I've been in the office sick as a dog because I have deadlines that can't slide. People have been avoiding me like the plaugue and I can't say I blame them.
I've had the flu once when I was 17. Lost 2 weeks of school and have gotten a flu shot whenever I could ever since. It's funny when I ask people "have you ever had the flu before?" and they answer, "no, but I've had a cold, isn't it pretty much the same thing only a little worse? " LOL. Uh, no, try A LOT worse. If you can get out of bed, it isn't the flu.
I thought I had the flu in December back before Christmas. I had just finished my last final and later that day, I suddenly started getting really cold. I thought it was my apartment, but everybody else was fine. I had my fleece on and I got into bed. I then started shivering pretty bad. Then, I went from freezing to suddenly running a fever. The next morning I woke up and had the worst diarrhea ever. Turns out I had the stomach flu. I used up all the toilet paper we had left and I couldn't even go home when I wanted to because I had to take a bus back and I didn't want to be on a greyhound with that condition.
I had the same thing last week. Missed 3 days of work. Man, I hate using sick days when I'm really sick. It is contagious as hell. The whole family got it, plus my parents.
yeah...i got one THIS year. didn't help. my sister's family got flu shots and got sick as well...the doctor told them this was not a strain they were prepared for...or something like that. whatever.
Man that really sucks. That's the bad thing about the shot, they can only anticipate what flu strain will hit your area, but you're still vulnerable to any other strain.
yeah..my family "made the cut" on the federal govt's list of who should receive a flu shot, because we had a newborn baby in November. again...fortunately his little immune system kicked in and he's done just fine. he's smiling at us while we're all coughing up our lungs.
Wow, good for him, that little fella is awfully lucky . I hate to sound like a nagging nurse, but handwashing(ya'll not his, LOL), keeping him warm, and cutting down on too many visitors will help him stay healthy...you probably know all that crap, but just some FYI.
the bug's definitely been goin 'round san marcos. i was feeling pretty sh!tty last week, but i used that new Zicam nose spray thats supposed to make you recover from it a lot faster, and it actually worked pretty well. but you got to start using it at the very onset of the illness. i was completely over it in 3 days.
MM, it's an OTC. Walmart has a bunch of them. I've used that Zicam Cold spray for cough before, it works pretty good but taste quite nasty. I got the flu as well and have passed it to my kids. I wish I had thought about the Zicam stuff. I'm now on anitbiotics. I've never had flu shots before and the only one time I had it (5 years ago) resulted in me getting the flu 2 days later.
