Kanye's speech was shallow and a little embarrassing. He never thanked Jamie Foxx and that's who really put him down (hooked him up)...
this grammy year is great. My vote for best speech, Loretta Lynn. Plus, the janis tribute was awesome, a.keyes was awesome, dickey vetts awesome. Plus, I was suprised to see tiff meritt nominated in country music category. That album and lynn's were the only two new country albums ive bought all year.
can anybody (i'm sure a lot of you will) explain the appeal of u2. i just don't see why they ppl like them so much. I really never liked any of there for radio singles. I must admit I guess that when they do a tradition folk song from ireland it can sound amazing and has but I just don't hear that much from them. Do they do a lot of that stuff on there albums?
They don't do traditional folk songs from Ireland. As for their appeal, I mean, if you've heard their songs and didn't like them, then you don't like them. I do have one question though, what songs have your heard? I'm guessing you've only heard songs from their last 2 or 3 albums.
U2 is the only act I caught, it's actually all of the Grammy's that I saw...since I was watching the game! GO ROCKETS!! I think U2 did great. They did "Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own" and it sounded great to me... I can't wait to see them live on their current tour!

Kanye was well on his way to rap stardom before "Slow James." It wasn't even the first(Or biggest) single off of the album, and he was a very sought-after producer before the album came out. I don't know...not a big deal. There's only so many people you can thank when you're on stage. Honestly, I'm a lot more surprised he didn't mention Talib Kweli.
No, I am old enough to remember joshua tree. I was a senior in high school when that album came out. As far as the folk reference I was thinking of a performance at the bill clinton library ceremony that I heard them do. It sounded like a joan baez song.
