If this has been posted, my bad :p
I went back to several days but did not see anything like it.

    From a Chinese interview....

Shin: "Would you have any interest in joining another team after your contract with the Houston Rockets expires? If so what about the teams you said you wanted to play for the most, Golden State, New York, Chicago, and the Los Angeles Lakers?"

Yao: "At first I really thought I wanted to play in New York, Los Angeles, or the San Francisco area, but after visiting those places and living in Houston, I know now I never want to play in any of those cities. I enjoy the people, media, and lifestyle much more in Houston and will be happy to stay there."

Shin:"What about a smaller market team? When drafted you mentioned many teams you would not play for."

Yao:"Houston is small, much smaller than New York, Los Angeles, or where the Golden State Warriors play. It is small compared to Shanghai. I like it there. But it is not too small, like Memphis or Utah. I do not like the Asian culture in the smaller areas. Houston is just the right size."

Shin:"So you will re-sign with Houston then?"

Yao:"I like my house there. It is in a nice, quiet neighborhood. I live very close to Cuttino Mobley and Maurice Taylor, and hopefully one of these summers I can have some time off to be around them more. We all have access to a lake off of our houses and have boats. The three of us go out on the lake together, it is fun. I like Les, the owner in Houston, Rudy, the front office, my teamates, and the fans. We have a good nucleus. I also know Jeff Van Gundy has a reputation here in China as one of the best coaches in the world. I will stay in Houston."

Shin:"Many people say when Shaquille O'Neal retires the Los Angeles Lakers will try to sign you when you are a free agent. If they did would you not be interested?"

Yao:"At first I thought so, but after visiting Los Angeles when we played there, I would not want to live there. That is not a nice city and I do not like the media or culture there."

Shin:"Do you feel the same about New York, Golden State, and Chicago?"

    Yao:"Yes."

Shin:What do you think about Toronto, there are many Asian fans of yours there?"

Yao:"The people seem nice and I appreciate their support, but I like Houston much better. My freind Vince Carter plays there, I asked him when is he coming to Houston to play."

Shin:"So is there any chance at all you will not spend your career with the Rockets?"

    Yao:"I don't think so."

Could you post a link olliez? I like the first part about him wanting to stay in Houston over the other places, but as some Chinese members have said, the Chinese media seems to make up interviews. I know... I'm cynical. :)

It seems like Shin, the interviewer, was pushing Yao to say that he wants to play for LA, NY, GS play somewhere else. Yao ain't going anywhere my friend.

Awesome new post... The best new thread in a while around here...
I especially like the part about Cat Yao and Mo in a boat in the middle of the lake together...

"Cat:Yao what you looking at up there...
    Yao:The stars
    Cat:Yeah what you see...
Yao:Sometimes if I look long enough and hard enough I can see the Ancient Emperor's of My land.
    Mo: Yo you wanna drag...
    Yao:Yao
    Mo:Yo man you wanna drag...
    Yao:Yao
Cat:Hey Mo pass that thing over here
Mo: No way man... you gonna bogart it and never give it back...
Cat:Nah man, what makes you think 'm like that!
Mo looks at Yao and they both laugh...
Cat: Hey Yao do those Emperors say anything to you...
    Yao:Oh yes
Cat:Oh Yeah what do they say?
Mo:They say you need to quit ball hogging and pass the freaking ball to me and Yao...
Cat:Oh yeah well then they say you need to lose 20 pounds and get a rebound every once and a while.
Yao: Can we go home now...

Just a joke... I also love the way he disses all of the other big cities... Yao just became my favorite Rocket

Yeah..may be something is lost in the translation. But it does seem to me the reporter was trying to lead Yao to say something contraversial.

Yeah I know Cat has a house in that little exclusive area. A friend used to live in one of the houses (friend-of-a-friend kinda thing) and he saw the MTV trucks driving through the neighborhood when the did the "Cribs" episode with Cat. I don't know where Yao's house is though. Living "near" someone is kinda nonspecific.
