    I like the Drums.

Anyone remember Crazy George? He was a middle aged balding guy who brought his drum to oiler and rockets games (and others I assume since his drum was covered with bunches of stickers from all kinds of teams) and he would go from section ot section and fire up the fans. I've been telling my wife I was going to buy a drum and become the new Crazy George.

The drum intro rocks! Its the resta the games drumming that is mediocre. While I was at the game I thought the face paint and the drummers were ok for kids, but I found it questionable as entertainment for myself, but I guess that's what the powerdancers are for!

My friends and I have some (african/moroccan) drums that we jam out on in a percussion band kinda thing, I'm gonna get us to try out that beat on our drums next time...

What's getting to be quite annoying however are the Rocket commercials during the games. Too many of the same thing, STOP it PLEASE TIM!

Damn Right. I'd have hard time on the back to back games (I can't talk for 2 days after a Texans home game) but you get me the OK and protect me from the seat nazi's (errr ushers) and I'll be the New Crazy George. I'm either at every game or watching from home so It's not like I have scheduling conflicts. :D

Do you need more people to go crazy near the court-side seats? I can help!

I happen to know the Voodoo Pope personally (AKA the Boat Pope, Boat Pope on a Rope, and the latest... the Voodoo Boat Pop) and I coudn't think of anyone better to be the new Crazy George (for the Rockets). Hard to find a better rocket fan than the Voodoo Boat Pope. Takes one to know one.

Anyway, I think Big Bang is a good idea, but so far they haven't found their place or style yet. It should get better, right?. I will say that I'm glad I don't sit in that section, either in front or behind. I still think that overall it's a good idea, and I also think that the drums make people want to cheer more than bad music blaring at ridiculous levels (which seems to make everyone quiet, why try and cheer when you know that's going to happen every 5 seconds)

Voodoo, I have some ideas for the "Crazy" get-up, we'll talk more later.

    :D

I"m not too crazy about the drums, but correct me if I'm wrong when I state that at least we're the only team that has a live act for our intro. I couldn't stand another year of lame ass mid 90's club MTV songs anymore.

Question: Is is just me, or do all NBA teams have some 50 year old geezer up there saying............."Color me Badd and NXS, wow they were ""hip"" I bet the young crowd would love to hear that." ALL the music they play is lowest common dominator first rate crap.

The Rockets should come out to some Sabbath. That would be balls. I'm thinking "Hand of doom." If you don't know the song, download it. Balls.

Here's the word from the Compaq Center staff ... the question was "Are there any barriers to fans bringing their own drums?"

The response was that there are no real barriers ... just that drum must be open on one end, or the head must be clear, so they could see inside for security reasons.

    Bang away,

    Tim

When I went to the G-State vs Rockets game the Drummers were running around Compaq and beating on the seats and hitting people in the back and they seem to enjoy it. I like the pregame with the drummers because it gets the crowd a little hype.

    Oh, here we go...

Now they'll play "Get it on, Bang A Gong" or "Just Want To Bang On The Drum All Day"...

    Christmas time "Lil' Drummer Boy."

Is this all a derivitive of Calvin Murphy's drum core? I mean that's a smooth operation, but every game? Every intro? Every other break in action?

I guess anything beats Michael Jackson's "Black or White."

    Heeee, heeeee......owwwww!;)

oh boy..I can hear it now...A few hundred fans with drums (with different tunings) will be playing hundreds of different beats all thru the game

I'm cringing just thinkin about it..
