i fall asleep with my radio on 790 a lot. sometimes on the weekend i wake up to this idiot doug pike. he has an outdoors show and a golf show. as you can imagine the outdoors show involves a lot of hunting. since the newtown tragedy this fool has been railing on gun control every morning. one day he had some idiot on who said something about crime in the fifties different from now so gun control wasn't as big of an issue or something. i called in and told him that the clock tower tragedy happened in the early sixties and that houston's worst murder rated happened in the fifties. then i told him i don't listen to conservative talk because they usually have their facts wrong. he proceeded to talk golf the rest of that morning, when i hear him railing on guns i just usually turn the radio off. i'm not one of these people who listens to idiots i don't agree with just to make me mad. however he has continued to use his sports station show for a political format and i find that very disigenuous.
man i hate that guy. sometimes i wake up with my radio still on because i usually fall asleep listening to big ben maller
you might try reading comprehension, i already said i do. i don't think about doug while i'm falling asleep, when i wake up i change it since you didn't read that before. i did call in that one time just to tell him that the conservative talk is down the dial
Is this the same show that callers call in and discuss their personal encounters with aliens. On the radio usually after 1AM?
Only thing I know about Doug Pike is that he was on the last page of the Sports section growing up, like that fine-ass Jody Goldstein.
I've heard the same thing, pgabriel. Annoying to say the least to turn on sports radio and be hit over the head with the politics of "huntin."
Maybe one of the radio guys can chime in, but Saturday morning sports talk is usually dead air time, so they fill it in with the combo of hunting-fishing/gardening/home improvement.
Because that's when the weekend starts and the people who participate in hunting-fishing/gardening/home improvement activities are listening and getting ready to do those things.
I catch a peice of it. . . normally I have my alarm set to 790 So 5 days out of the week wake up to Matt And Adam chatting it up. Leave it on while getting dressed That guy though . . . .I have to shut it down quick . . . . Rocket River I hate when I forget to reset my radio on friday nights.
I remember when I used to fall asleep half drunk from a night out to Captain Mickey's show on 610 on Saturdays. Sigh...those were fun times.
The only good thing about the Doug Pike show is that his discussions about hunting and fishing usually serve up some pretty juicy sound bites for the Matt and Adam "That's What She Said" segment.
that's fine, he's talking gun rights. for example when i woke up saturday and immediately shut off the radio after five minutes, this is what i heard "gun control people don't want to accept the responsibility of protecting their families"
