Has anybody heard this or read about it yet? It is supposed to be really big on the Internet. http://www.nbc4.com/news/15087999/detail.html?rss=dc&psp=news FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. -- Fairfax County school administrators' decision to keep schools open on Thursday despite snow is causing some controversy, Julie Carey reported First On 4. School officials said that students have been venting their feelings about the decision by calling administrators at home and even sending threatening e-mail. To make matters worse, the wife of an administrator who was called at home fired back with her own phone call, creating more controversy, Carey reported. Long before the snow started falling early Thursday morning, Dean Tistadt was awake, studying forecasts and consulting with other administrators before making the decision to hold class. As the chief operating officer for facilities and transportation, he has become the public face of school closing decisions. But recently, this role has resulted in dozens of phone calls to his home, many from students and some in the middle of the night. Other students have sent profane e-mails to the administration. "That is totally inappropriate for kids to be calling individuals that are working for the school system at their home numbers. There is no reason for that," said Paul Regnier of Fairfax County Public Schools. One e-mail to another administrator even made physical threats. School officials said they've had enough, and they plan to act. "We are going to identify who the senders are. We are going to notify their schools, and in the case of the actual threat, we are going to involve the police," Regnier said. Controversy has also erupted because of a voice mail message a Lake Braddock High School senior has posted online as a way of protesting the decision to hold school. The student had called Dean Tistadt at home on Thursday and left a message questioning the decision. The student has now posted the blistering callback he received from Tistdadt's wife, Candy. "How dare you call us at home," Candy Tistdadt said. "If you've got a problem going to school, you do not call somebody's house and complain about it." More than 600 have already listened to the call online. Dean Tistadt told News4 his wife reacted emotionally after finding more than a dozen messages and after being awakened by other calls. "My wife get very defensive over what she perceives to be the vilification of me… she takes it very personally," Dean Tistadt said. "This is a guy who's doing great work for the school system, for kids, and here you are harassing him. She got a little emotional I suppose, but I think it's understandable in those circumstances," Regnier said. The student defends his decision to call the chief operating officer at home. "I have the support of my peers, which definitely makes me a little more secure in my decision to talk about this and to make this public. I even have the support of the Bill of Rights. We're allowed to petition our public officials," the high school senior said. Dean Tistadt said he plans to end the phone calls at home. He is putting a call-blocking service on the line. He has contacted Fairfax County police about the calls, which he considers to be harassment.
Hell, I'm a teacher and I just use caller ID blocking...err...I mean that's what I would do if I were to call...
Small world. A guy working here says that 20 years ago, he used to attend school there and there wasn't much controversy over stuff like this. My goodness, how times have changed. Kids think they can get away with so much schi*tt, but they can't even accept an education. To quote Sebastian: "You give them an inch, and they walk ALL OVER you."
fixed. (Though I get what you're saying. I see it even with my sister who's only 6 years younger than I am - she's exactly the same way as these kids.)
there has been a distinct cut off somewhere along the lines where kids have just become overly catered to and flat out punks...and not the cool kind of punk either. 2 years after leaving h.s. i went back to watch a basketball game...i couldnt believe what i was seeing. although the girls are sluttier and give it up much easier
Is you callin' my sister a slut? Well, you'd be right then. Though I'm pretty sure she's bound to have diseases by now. Boys beware!
OK but you can't come crying to the BBS, and most of all me, when your dick falls off. Her number is 1-800-Go-****-YOURSELF.
I like how the dumb ass kid assumes everyone is going to side with him on this. Uh..... negative. You're a douchebag. We all hate you.
