An interesting article about a player with acromegaly, a condition caused by a tumor that leads his pituitary gland to overproduce growth hormone. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/16078440/
I read a thread about him last year.. he may be 7"9.. but he ain't no Yao.. unfortunately his ailments required a lot of attention and hospital visits..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nx6EP-kxOg4 Here he is on the Jimmy Kimmel show. He seems like a bit of a show off and he gets rejected by the rim.
I saw a special on TV about him. He's actually more coordinated than I thought. He has a little spin move in the lane that suprised me. But it's so hard for him to run. He's so huge, after one sprint down the court, he needs a rest. He looked better than guys that had the same tumor as him that have played in the past but I dont think he'll ever make it in the NBA.
Basketball international on NBAtv actually talked about him this friday said he had two surgery down and working on his stamina they interviewed his agent and he said he once shot 79 free throws in a row in practice, i think that's better than Shaq!!! but the agent also mentioned that due to the fact the NBA is getting small and faster, his chance is not that great, but he could be the back up center to control the lane for 15 minutes i do think he can get a lot of blocks just by standing there did you guys see how Huge the ball is in his hand?
It's simple wrong to compare the best center in the game to a scrub who can't even make a training camp roster.
Asian players aren't exactly common to begin with so of course anytime a 7-footer with NBA potential comes along they will draw the Yao comparison.
maybe he can play in roller skates so he doesn't have to run. he makes that basketball look the size of a softball.
That was a pretty sad dunk attempt.. and I wouldn't mind a little 1-on-1 with that translator of his I think the Blazers could use him just for fun and kicks since they're not really going anywhere and nobody really takes them seriously..
Yeah its just racism they compare a 7'-9" Chinese guy who wants to play in the NBA with 7'-6" Chinese Yao. Its the same thing with comparing the athletic scrambling black Vince Young with the athletic scrambling Randall Cunningham.
Yeah, I've read about this guy before but he's not nearly as good as Yao. He's got great size but he's got too many medical conditions for him to ever step on the court and play in the NBA. It would be a mistake to try to get him. Just look at Pavel Podkolzin. Oh, and that picture was nice. He just enveloped that ball in his hand.
Didn't Gheorge Muresan have that condition? That cat could play, before he came down with some injuries...
At least it'd be very difficult to slap the ball out of his hands... It's just a joke...Yao's fans please don't hammer me.
