As of now, the Rockets are going over scenario after scenario to try and find out what's going on. No one, and I mean NO ONE is tipping their hand as of now. Rest assured, the team is trying to move up and put themselves in a better position. The 'draft is deep but fairly even with regards to the talent in the top 10.'

Chicago wants Mihm? Yeah - but they'll take Pryzbilla. The Nets want Martin? Yeah - but they'll take Swift. The Clippers want Swift? Yeah - but they'll take Fizer. The Hawks and Bulls want a guard? Yeah - and they'll take Miles, Alexander, Johnson...whomever may be there.

Demarr's workouts shows he could really have a nice ceiling. One guy says, 'With Demarr, it may not really be that long.' However, remember last years team? Barring we get the miracle, and even if we do, our five will be relatively the same.

STEVE, SHANDON, WALT, KENNY, DREAM/ CATO

If Demarr is selected at the nine, he will start over Walt...period. Also, who we take at nine plays no part in Cuttino's decision. If Cuttino came out now, knowing what we do, ' he would be taken top 5.' Cat IS our bench!

This is nowhere close to being over. It's still a long summer ahead....watch the free agency boys!! [IMG]

    OOPS!!!!

If Demarr is selected at the nine, he will NOT start over Walt.

My first mistake in 2000!!! ;(

Doc, thanks for the info, I have a couple of questions:

    1. Do the Rockets feel they have a shot at Chris Webber in the summer of 2001?

    2. Are DerMarr Johnson and Jerome Moiso their top 2 targets for the 9th pick? If so, which one do they like better?

    3. What position do the Rockets feel Austin Croshere would play on this team, and what is the asking price for him? Can he be had for KT and Drew?

Rudy has said publicly on radio that they will not draft a guard with the 9th pick cause they are very concerned about resigning Cuttino. If they select a player that chews into Mobleys playing time he could very well sign with someone else no matter if he starts or comes off the bench.

Long time no see, great to see you posting again Doc [IMG].

I was gonna say something on that Dermarr. Dermarr is still raw, and I personally think he will grow similar to Maggette, perhaps a little faster, but still not ready to start.

I think Dermarr will be an SF if he came to the Rockets, just my opinion though.

I'm sorry to see Cato on your list, Doc. Things must have gotten out of whack after all. No market for him or change of heart by the Rockets?

How in the hell did I miss a Doc Rocket post? I'm just now seeing this and been on a few times today ...

That is good to hear... I was getting the feeling they had kind of given up considering the immense value the top 3-5 teams seem to place on their picks.

That's what I didn't want to hear. I can't see Swift going past #2 but still holding out hope (though it's looking hopeless) that NJ selects Mihm, putting the pressure on VAN to select between Swift and Kenyon. Don't know why I want this other than hoping Swift will slide to atleast 3 giving us three teams to possibly work with to trade up. But alas, as I said.... hopeless.

Good to hear DerMarr made an impression .... seems the Rockets like him, Miles and Miller at the 3-slot... and chances are decent one of those could be available.

Good to hear from you Doc...

Thanks for the post Doc. The more I read about him, the more I love DerMarr. I don't think that Johnson will have nearly the negative impact on our ability to resign Mobley. Johnson has a while ahead of him before he is a legit talent and who knows what will happen between now and then?!

The Doc is back in business!

Truthfully, to move up into the top spots ain't that hard, but the major problems occurs when trying to settle on a reasonable price. Every top teams is trying to scam the team below as usual.

I think Mobley possibly leaving is just a minor problem if we draft DerMarr. The bigger problem we should worry about is what kind of post game will we have? Relying on jumpshots all game ain't the best idea, just ask Portland that.

    rf34,

Getting a solid post game might be tougher than imagined because there seems to be a dearth of quality power forwards and centers in the game today. With CB4 exiting the stage and Dream about to make his final bows, that will be two less superior postup players in the NBA. With the change in the defensive strong side rules (legal zones), a postup player has to be really special to be effective.

That's a good reason for this year to get a semi-project (Miles would be wonderful, and Johnson still counts) and then try to win some lotto balls next year:

    1. Loren Woods (7'1'' senior, shot blocking extraordinaire, runs the floor REALLY well)

    2. Brendan Haywood (7'0'' senior, superathlete, good shot blocker, came alive in tourney)

They will both come out, then there's several underclassmen:
    1. Eddy Curry (6'11'' 280, the guy known as "Baby Shaq", good in post, athletic, could go #1 out of HIGH SCHOOL)

    2. Tyson Chandler (7'1'', excellent shot blocker, 3 point range, could come out of HS)

    3. Troy Murphy (6'10'' junior, inside out type of game)

    4. Eddie Griffin (6'9'' PF freshman, considered by some better than Miles this year, shot blocker, effortless playing)

    5. Kwame Brown (6'11'' SF/PF/C compared to yet again, Garnett, may come out of HS)

There's just a few, some others: Drew Gooden, Zach Randolph, Boozer, Gadzuric, etc.

Next year's draft will have a ton of good post players....

What?!? Kenyon Martin wasn't even mentioned in the first four! With Elton Brand on hand, maybe Chicago would let us trade up to pick Kenyon--we could give them Drew, the #9, the $4.5M exception, and whatever else they'd want.

All this talk about Swift is nice, but Martin at the #4 pick would be a steal.

I'd have to be a grand thief to get to your #'s!

It was just a mistake of pressing the back and forward buttons on the browser [IMG](la verguenza!)

and the agony of waiting until draft day...
