if any of you guys live in houston there is no reason why any of you shouldn't invest in a good surfboard because days like today make it all worth while. I know it's hard for the younger generation nowdays to step away from all the computers, and televison and video games but a short drive of an 1hr 15min to surfside will take you to one of the most consistent surf spots on the Gulf of Mexico. Guys, i'm serious invest in a surfboard, short board or long board, if just beginning you'll probably want at least a 7 footer. If your in your teens, beg your parents for a board, and explain to them what a beautiful effect surfing will have on your grades, attitude and soul.

Believe me theres not a more physicaly demanding sport in the world than surfing. You'll see, try making it out on a big Texas day duckdiving your ass off before you can reach that last outside break.

There is nothing like sitting out in the ocean with one of your best bros, waiting for sets to come in from a tropical storm, with a artic coldfront on the horizon, ready to unleash natures fury in the disguise of an offshore wind.

Just to get out of the metropolitan should be excuse enough, so give it a try. You won't be sorry.

Waiting for waves is ok but most people spend their lives waiting for nothing.

See ya in the water, boys.

Too often, we lose sight of life's simple pleasures.

Remember, when someone annoys you it takes 42 muscles in your face to frown, but it only takes 4 muscles to extend your arm and pimp-slap the mother****** upside the head!

You don't have to tell me....I know [IMG].

It never had an effect on my grades, though.

Surfing is awesome... I surfed for the first time when I was 13 in Hawaii, it was heavenly... the feeling you get is like no other.... Its like you are floating and have a power over the water.

maybe there is something mystic to it or maybe its just the endorphins kickin in after the long paddle. Nonetheless, the feel of the power of nature behind you as you are propelled towards shore envokes a sense of appreaciation for nature and an all-around "good vibe"

I have tried to surf at least once a year since then and I plan on surfing ALL THE TIME in college. (I even surfed the north shore of Oahu, Bonzi Pipeline!)

ROCKETBOOSTER is right... I recommend it

I surfed in Corpus. The problem was, unless there was a tropical storm, there were no waves. That's why you may need a board bigger than 7 foot.

    Booster, you're killing me.

I left my surfboard in Australia when I moved here thinking that there just wasn't enough surf to make it worthwhile.

How often do you get decent swells, how crowded is it and how big is the avergae day? I'm actually a semi retired surfer - when me and my best friend bought a ski boat, we found it more ejoyable to get pulled behind a boat and get massive air on a wakeboard rather than wait for waves. [IMG]

The waves in Galveston aren't great, but sometime you get a decent set. Mostly though, you have to use a longboard unless you really know what you're doing...

You can always check the waves at:

No Surfing or BBQ here in DC. All we got is Crabs and a nice set of museums.
