well you did take the job. Just talk to payroll and see what the hold up is. Some companies require you to pick up the check from HR. But they would have told you about it. Ask the other employees if they got paid as well..

But anyways, that is not a reason to say Texas sucks. In fact, Texas is the greatest state in America and I am not saying so because I am from there. I've been all around and Im telling you Texas is the greatest. Plus, no state income tax.

This is incorrect you are NOT allowed to say anything negative at all about former employees. You can refuse to comment, but if you say something negative you are libel.

And, he should tell his next employer that he LEFT because his boss was an A$$ and he wasn't being paid.

The have ways of saying it by not saying
    such as. . . 'Unrehirable" . . . such 'catchphrases'
    used in the HR departments
Legally. .. they never said a bad thing. . and they only told the truth
the 'meaning' gets across though . . .
the meaning .. . ya'll did not part on good terms

that makes the new employer skeptical
esp since . .. it is easier to empathize with a fellow Employer
because you are in the position they were in

most of my clients are so freaked out about being sued, they won't say a thing. it's never worth it to them to say anything, unless it's positive.

I assume most of your clients are responsible employers. However, given that this company has no qualms about not paying its employees, it is highly likely that they'd also have no qualms trashing their ex-employees (especially those who raised a stink about the lack of pay).

Most companies are starting to pay every other week, which is roughly equal to twice a month. I work for one of the biggest companies in the world (GE) and have been getting paid twice a month for the last 14 years. Pretty much everyone I know gets paid every other week. There must be some type of confusion between you and the Texas Workforce Commission.

that's not the point, its easier to stand up to your employer when you have someone on your behalf.

I see what you are saying, but I think people should be looking at themselves as individual contractors....and stand up for themselves.

We all have the right to work or not.......I would go sit in his office and demand an explanation.

Also, you could have a friend call on your behalf pretending to be from the Texas Labor board, and say that several employees have called about the lack of payroll, and are considering filing suite....at least it would make the employer tell you guys what the heck is going on.

    Meowgi,

Don't take this lying down, you have rights and options. They OWE you the money already, at least force the boss to be a man and tell you what is going on, and then you can assess your chances of getting paid.

Right now, you are doing nothing about it but grumbling, talk to the other employees, go into his office EN masse if it makes you more comfortable, but the worst thing you could do....is nothing, IMHO.

I totally agree. I would never in a million years just sit there and keep working. I'd b**** so much that they would either fire me or pay me. If they fired me, I'd be the biggest pain in their ass about it. I'd complain to everyone I could and I'd collect unemployment while I was looking for a new job.

They would be begging me to accept their money just so I would shut the **** up.

If I was absolutely certain I would get unemployment I would too.

    How does that work?

Check out that site. Basically if you paid taxes on your checks, you get unemployment. There is no way you won't get it if they aren't paying you. It isn't much but it is more than the nothing you are getting now.

Your employer can't fire you for contacting the workforce commission. Not legally, anyways.

Ask a lawyer friend to make sure, but I'm pretty sure that they can't.
