In an apartment complex I lived in a couple of years ago, they had the American and Texan flags flying out in front of the office. But, the Texas flag was upside-down. That's drives me crazy. I had gone in and told the leasing agent she needed to get the thing turned righ-side-up, but she didn't really care. Driving the other day, I saw another business flying the flag upside-down. Am I supposed to be feeling their love for the fatherland when they fly a flag upside-down? It'd be better to have no flag at all. Is it really so hard to know which color is on top -- to find out at least, before you hoist the flag up? And, to go along with my flag rant, I'll put a poll, because I like polls.
What is up with bashing Iowans lately here? As an Iowan I find it offensive. Air Bullard is an Iowan, so is Ryan Bowen, give it a break.
I remember being taught "the blood runs to the bottom" (or something like that) Why is the Texas backwards on all the gun-show billboards?
What gets me is people displaying the American flag when they don't know the proper way. I understand people are trying to be patriotic, but please display the flag correctly. That includes not leaving it out in the rain and making sure a light shines on it if you are going to display it after sundown.
I didn't realize there was a rash of Iowa bashing around here. I picked a random state. Actually, I changed the state twice: first it was Nevada, then Connecticut, then Iowa. Maybe there's something magnetic about Iowa. I would have done Illinois because I lived there for awhile, but what do you call someone from Illinois, Illinoisan? That looks funny. Nothing personal about Iowa.
Iowa sucks. It always has. I've seen several threads on it's suckiness this year, alone. Where have you been?
Debating with you over why you think early Hootie sounds like Eddie Vedder... A few times I understand, I finally got sick of it.
I'll put this simple...If you don't know how to do it, DON'T. If you are going to do it, DO IT RIGHT. This is TEXAS, the Lone Star State and I think I can speak for most of my fellow Texans, We have a lot of Texas pride.
It irks me to no end. I've actually pulled over and gone into a business before to inform them if the Texas flag was upside down. Seriously though, how hard is it to get this right? Just look at the star for cryin' out loud: if the star is upside down, SO IS THE DAMN FLAG.
Don't you just look at the star to tell if it's right side up? It bother's me, b/c it's something that's easy to get right - and a lot of people don't.
Are you kidding? My flag's tough... it can take the rain and dark. Dammit, I'm too lazy to mess with it that much.
