a REAL skull or the plastic Halloween ones I thought the real would be illegal or something Rocket River
No kidding. I don't know if it's a testament to the creativity of the real-life murderers or an indictment of writers' inability to capture the gritty details, but fact is almost always more interesting that fiction. Whenever a story about a serial killer gets recounted, I'm always fascinated with the borderline obsession people have with the details. I wonder why that is? Is it a natural human interest in the unusual? Interesting stuff.
Maybe it's that childhood thing about your mother telling you there are no real monsters. Well, mother, you were wrong. There are. And Dahmer, and Gein were real-life monsters.
Oh yeah one more thing the sarge from full metal jacket plays the psycho cop in this movie. And yes he's still the same A-hole lol
Are you talking about "Deranged" or some other movie? Also, as mentioned in several places in this thread, Gein was only "officially" credited with 2 murders. The guy was a necrophiliac and dug up graves to get bodies so he could do his "artwork".
In my local paper, there is a movie section with ratings and they gave this movie NO STARS. I don't know if these are the Roger and Ebert ratings or just the local nobodys near me, but there is also an article about how the movie wasn't all that great and that people should just rent the original. I didn't think it would get 5 stars or anything, but NO STARS? Man, even a family film about a talking dog got at least one star.
Man, you know a guy is fat if you refer to him as Roger AND Ebert. Roger Ebert did give the film zero stars, though, in his Sun-Times review.
Here's a link to the Ebert review in the Sun-Times: http://www.suntimes.com/output/ebert1/wkp-news-texas17f.html
Yeah, I messed up. I started off trying to say Roger and that other guy, but then ended up putting his last name instead since only he reviewed it. Forgot to take out the "and" though. I suck without the edit function. Thanks for clearing up who did it though. I figured it was him, but I couldn't tell glancing at my paper.
Props to that Ebert review. At least he's consistent. It was getting a little ridiculous how TCM was getting a free ride from everyone after the pre-release thrashing Freddy vs. Jason recieved.
Listen to this critic, the movie was a big let down. It wasn't scary, it was a little funny though. R Lee Ermey stole the show as he usually does, he was great. Otherwise this movie is such a rental/cable watch. First thing I said when I left "WEAK!!!".
Not exactly on topic, but here's a link to a Texas Monthly story written a couple of years ago (by the great Joe Bob Briggs) about the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre and the goings-on in getting it made, the aftermath, etc. I thought it was fun and interesting: http://www.joebobbriggs.com/misccolumns/tcmcomprehensive.html
