Seven Explosions Reported on Trains in Bombay

A railway spokesman says a total of seven explosions have hit Bombay's commuter train network during the evening rush hour.

Indian television news channels broadcast video of the wounded sprawled on train tracks and being carried through stations.

The Press Trust of India news agency said six blasts occurred along the city's commuter rail network, which is among the most crowded in the world.

India's financial center of Bombay and the capital of New Delhi were reportedly on high alert.

Series of bombs hit Bombay's rail network

Indian television news channels, which broadcast images of the wounded lying on train tracks and being carried on sheets through stations, reported the blasts killed at least 15 people and injured dozens more.

Officials said the toll from the explosions was predicted to rise.

Some reports suggested a total of seven blasts hit city's commuter rail network, but this has not been confirmed.

At least two of the explosions hit moving commuter trains and one struck the Mahim railway station.

A police spokesman said: "There have three been blasts in Khar, Santa Cruz and Mahim." The blasts were about 20 minutes apart, he said.

No further details of the explosions, or the number of injuries were available.

there were 7 blasts for sure, but some reports are claiming that there may be up to 11. 63 dead so far, and there will be much, much more considering that they all occurred during rush hour when the trains are most crowded.

this coincides with blasts in Srinagar, India which killed 7 earlier in the day.

well considering the fact that muslim terrorist groups are doing the bombings these days. further there have always been tensions between the hindus and muslims. i wouldn't say you were a bad person for thinking they did it.

Maybe it's weird of me, but I thought of the Hindus first. There was a story from a couple years ago of Hindus attacking some defenseless Muslims in India that left an impression on me because Hindus have some veneer of being so peaceable. So now, when there is violence in India, I wonder about the Hindus.

Of course, Muslim extremists would be no surprise either.

I don't think a single religious group today could make that claim, too much evidence to the contrary...

    9/11 - NYC/DC attack
    3/11 - Madrid subway attacks
    7/11 - Indian subway attacks

Not sure what the deal is with the 11's...

What's it going to take to stop these Muslim extremists? Their cowardly killing of innocents is disgusting.

Has this bombing been officially linked to Pakistan? Why would India use a nuke if they knew they were going to be nuked back?

It is disgusting. The problem is...Muslim extremists don't see anyone as innocent. If you're not with them, you're against them...

I am not sure if you're linking the Madrid bombings with Muslims or not. If you are, then am I wrong to point out that Eta, a Basque separatist group, committed the acts?
