Sharapova won without losing a set in the tournament and playing against very good players (beating 3 of the 4 best players), she played great! Good for her.
I like Novak a lot. I think he's funny. I like Roger too, but it's hard to root for him, because it's almost always a given that he will win. Plus when it comes to Djokovich I didn't like Roger's previous dismissive comments about him. I think Roger underestimated Novak, and his dismissive attitude came back to bite him on the ass a bit. I'm not sure who I will pull for in today's match. I like Tsonga as well.
It's not dumb spaced out stares, but determination and unwavering intensity. Djokovich on the other hand reminds me of one of those annoying boy band pretty boy types. Go Tsonga!!
I don't understand why there are people out there who frequently interpret Federer's comments about his opponents as dismissive. After the Djokovic match, Roger said: "It [the stomach virus] might have had an effect on my movement, I don't know. But I definitely didn't feel as quick, you know, as some other times. I practiced really hard. I can't practice much harder in the offseason, so I did everything the right way. And maybe I did pay the price for being a little bit ill. "I like to give credit to my opponent, as well. I don't want to blame it too much on my own play. He came up with the shots at the right time, and that's all I can say, really. The second set, he started just unloading. You know, that's not usually what he does. He can, obviously, and play aggressive. But, not on every shot. The way he played, he picked up every serve. It was fantastic. He did play great." Personally, I don't see anything dismissive in there at all. To me, it seems like he was analyzing both his own play and his opponent's. ...but I suppose when you don't like a player, anything he says can be interpreted as "dismissive" or "smug."
