djokovic seems like such a little prick, i'm hoping federer stomps his ass after dropping this first set.

I get the opposite feeling from Novak. He seems like a really nice kid. Did you see him at the US Open doing those impersonations?

Holy Moly! this should be a nice breath of fresh air in the finals. No question Djokovic will win this one.

My heart was beating fast in that tiebreak. I'm glad a few of us were crazy enough to watch the match live in the middle of the night.

After watching that US Open final last year, you knew Djokovic would have at least 50% chance of beating Federer the next time they played. Most other opponents have a 10% chance of beating Federer on any given day. Today was just sheer dominance. Especially that second set.

dont be so quick to judge...tsonga is on the high of his life...for the last 20 years he's been training for this day...all the sweat...blood and fatigue will culminate into this one final...i dont think he'll be a push over...in fact...i think this aus open will define the rest of his career with the unequivocal confidence it offers to whomever may win...

Even though I'm a big Federer fan, nobody stays untouchable forever. He single-handedly ended the era of power tennis by destroying all his contemporaries. He raised the bar, and as a result...a new generation of all-around players in Berdych/Murray/Gasquet/Djokovic came up and are slowly beginning to dominate the game.

All credit goes to Djokovic for the win though. He played great today. Time will tell how much Federer has left in the tank. After all, he's a good 5-6 years older than all of his closest rivals these days. Tennis is definitely a young man's game.

I was reading about Tsonga. He has virtually been sidelined with injury since 2004. He has had the most unfortunate luck. He turned pro in 2004, and literally has played fewer than 40 matches since that time. Since he is healthy he will be a force to be reckoned with in the future.

As for beating Djokovic, I don't think he will take a set, but it should be a interesting match.

That's true, but Roger is still only 26.

After about age 29 or so, alot of players start fading off. But physically and mentally, I would think a 26 year old would be stronger than a 20 year old.

Btw what ever happened to Guillermo Coria? He was one of my favourites.

I was just thinking about the current players who hail from the former Yugoslavia. For such a relatively small former country, the talent is amazing.

    Croatia:

    Mario Ancic
    Ivo Karlovic
    Ivan Ljubcic
    Karolina Sprem

    Serbia:

    Novak Djokovic
    Jelena Dokic
    Jelena Jankovic
    Ana Ivanovic
    Janko Tipsarevic

    Bosnia:

    Amer Delic

Makes you wonder why places like America can't produce bigger tennis talent since sheer population numbers would make you think so.

Belgrade, for instance, has very little impressive infrastructure. Except when you travel to the Center there is a magnificent park filled with old fortresses and lush landscaping. It almost seems like all this is in fact the Jewel Showcase of the country, if you will. Lying right djacent to the fortress walls in this heritage-esque site, is a state-of-the-art outdoor basketball court. Sports is a very high priority in their culture.

I'm sure there will be great tennis played between Djokovic and
Tsonga but those two sure can act like makor asses on the court at times. I don't know if I can stand it enough to sit through that though.

The women's final will start half an hour before the Rockets-Portland game.
