Have you guys heard about the TED conference? My brother pointed me in that direciton last week, and I must say it is fascinating. It is a conference attended by the intellectual leaders in different fields, giving talks on anything from philosphy to evolution to art. If you enjoy reading philosophical literature or enjoy science, then I suggest you check it out. http://www.ted.com You can download recent talks given at the conference. The two that I have watched in the last week were by Richard Dawkins and David Deutsch. Dawkins is an evolutionary biologist at Oxford and Deutsch is a physicist also at Oxford. If you like philosophy or are interested in evolution and athiesm, then definitley watch these guys. Very interesting for anyone that likes science. You can download all of the talks here: http://www.ted.com/tedtalks/ After listening to Dawkins, I went out and got his book The Blind Watchmaker. About 1/8 of the way through it, but this guy is brilliant. The talks are on all subjects by the way, philosophy and evolution are what interest me the most though. Steven Levitt, the author of Freakonmics gave a talk too.
