Can somebody please help me with a question I have?
I watch Rockets games on national TV and also NBA TV. I don't get Fox Sports, I live in Florida. So I listen to opposing team radio stations (Portland, Boston etc.)
NBA.com streams Rockets radio broadcasts (you have to pay) from KILT 610AM. How do they do that? I understand 610AM doesn't stream. Thanks in advance

I'm not the expert, but they don't stream thier regular broadcast. They might have contractual obligations with the NBA for games however. Good question.

My question is, if they can stream the Games, why can't they stream the rest of thier broadcast?

The reason that 610 doesn't stream is because their parent company Infinity had a policy against it. But according to Chance that will change in the near future. There are no technical issues preventing them from streaming.

Well then that a "rights" issue between the league, 610 and Infinity. I'm sure Chance can give you a better explanation of how that situation works out.

Is there anything we can do as listeners to help facilitate the OK from corporate?

See, I don't know the answer exactly, but I am not sure what incentive 610 has to stream its programs live on the net. I am not sure if they would make money out of that, especially if half of China gets on their website to listen in.

Although I am sure they can make revenue from advertisement on their webpages or something. So I could be wrong.

The can make tons of money in advertising because the broadcast will reach a lot more people. They will have to sign some international ads instead of just local ads.
Or even better, the should also have a chinese stream of the broadcast.

Yah, that is what I guessed, although I am not very familiar with how exactly they go about doing that, but I guess it makes sense: the more traffic to your site, the more money advertisers pay.

I am sure they can get a few Chinese companies to advertise on their site, and I guess in that case I can understand why Chance is so anxious to stream online;)

Dude. If the Rockets can have all their content on the website available in chinese, and the Toyota Center can have advertisements in chinese, I don't see why 610 can't.

Sorry, I can never tell when you are being sarcastic.

I would pay for 610 during the day. Radio reception is nil in my office.
