I downloaded a set of codecs recently (I think I found them here) that someone said were better than the usual junk that you automatically get or comes in those packages. Anyway, I think that it said to uninstall the old codecs first before installing the new ones. Being that I had no idea how to do that, I just installed the new ones on top of that... since then windows media player and winamp have both refused to play videos.. a error report always comes up from windows. Anyone have suggestions on what to do? Help is appreciated

    These videos...are they p*rn?

Oh yes, some help. Determine which codecs you require, download accordingly, and install.

    note to anyone installiing codecs....

when you get these all in one codec packs....DO NOT INSTALL EVERY ONE OF THEM. only install what you need, and no others.

I have heard this story way too many times....I doubt it is a conflict with upgrading codecs...more than likely it is a conflict between two similar codecs from different places

theoretically...installing a newer version of a codec should not screw up anything...but when you have a bunch of different codecs installed....the likelyhood of a conflict rises exponentially.

Kaiser....ffdshow is nice for generic needs....but it doesnt handle everything you need.

sometimes ya just gotta install more than that.

but Im sure you knew that already...;)
