Just got a Samsung BD-P15000 from my mother on Christmas Eve. Is it good? I already have the HD TV, but I don't have any additional bells and whistles. Will I be able to enjoy Blue Ray on this player without buying additional stuff? Unfortunately it was bought through QVC so I can't return it to Best Buy or some place to get a PS3.
To get the best picture, you need a HDMI cable. Don't pay for one of the 40 to 80 dollar ones unless you need it NOW. You can find them online for less than 10. Also I believe that Fry's has them for under 20. If you could exchange it for a PS3, I would. Not that the player you have is bad, but you can do more with a PS3.
Like many have mentioned here, www.monoprice.com is a sweet place for hdmi cables. I've gotten a 6 foot cable for under $5 before.
If it's not opened yet, try taking it to Walmart, CC, BB etc and exchange it for a PS3. No receipt shouldn't be a problem considering Christmas was yesterday.
After you have the HDMI cable you are ready to go. I hope you have a 1080p tv so you can truly enjoy the picture Blu-Ray can provide. Also the best deals I have found anywhere for BR movie prices is Amazon.com. I did manage to find Saw 1 & 2 for $10 at wal-mart the other day, but other than that I got all my movies from amazon.
Ok so we are able to return it if we want. Is it worth the extra $100 or so to return this Samsung and get the PS3?
