    Man...

Their strategy almost worked and the team was just shy of pulling out the victory today.

This is the first time I've been able to catch an Olympic game from start to finish. I was shocked by their strategy of throwing up bricks from the perimeter on a regular basis, forcing Lithuania's defense to spend all of their time under the basket hanging on Tim Duncan.

This left huge stretches of time where the perimeter players for team USA could reinforce that strategy by continuing to shoot up bricks, completely ungaurded, while Tim Duncan never touched the ball.

It was truly an amazing display of creativity. The announcers were talking about how this was the best game so far for team USA in the Olympic games. I have to say how truly dissappointed I am not to have been able to watch the other games, as I am curious to have watched this unconventional approach develop.

I really thought it was ingenious as well. Not allowing Tim Duncan touch the ball is the smartest thing they have done, I mean he is our worst offensive threat on the team.

I am honestly sicked by our performance. I think our execs are to blame though, they didn't do their homework when picking the team. None of our guys can shoot. All they can do is drive. Where's the balance? If there's no balance, then a bball team is screwed.. bottom line.

We are screwed... I bet we don't even win the bronze.

Do we give the other team enough credit?

Lithuania shot lights out, the world is getting better, it's not all our fault.

The World IS getting better AND we are getting worse. We deserve what we got.

All we need is ONE good shooter. They collapse off a good shooter and we'd made them pay.

No shooters = lot's of open misses.

    PATHETIC.

is it also an acceptable excuse that save duncan and MAYBE iverson, these are our tier 2 or 3 players?

i still dont think we should be losing though.

I play with 10 or more guys at the YMCA that can shoot the 3 point shot better than this entire USA basketball team.

There is no excuse for missing so many easy 20 foot jump shots.

Sam Cassel would have eaten up this tournament.

The team is not a team at all.

Maybe the NBA is sending young guys to teach them a lesson on how to play basketball, since most of them did not go to college.

well now it's another unconventional approach by the USA water polo team...

I think they are thinking if they hit the Russian goalie with the ball enough times he'll eventually move out of the way.

well now it's BrockStapper going with the unconventional approach of starting a completely unoriginal thread to make a point that's been made a thousand times already. Awesome!!

There are few people around here that think you have to talk about what they want to talk about, and say only the things they want you to say. I think you made a good point.

    They got toasted by Russia...

The Russian goalie finally dodged a few of the shots late in the game when it was already decided...

Our goalie was obviously superior as he managed to dodge almost all of the Russian teams shots...

I felt sorry for the Russian goalie who was literally hit with the ball wherever body was above water. One time he jumped up to block a shot that then pegged him in the side of his stomache.

I think if Team USA can get in the weight room so that they can really get some steam on the ball future opponents' goalies will have their goggles and shower caps knocked all the way into the second row.
