The difference with Gino is that they obviously don't want him playing Starter minutes not because he would suck. Their system just works better with him coming off the bench as a spark and they do let him go crazy when he wants

I don't think we'll ever get to see him playing multiple seasons as a starter as long as Pop is there

? raising that post count must be pretty important

yeah - there's no information at all. thanks for your opinion, Coach Rupp.

Go back to watching Washington Generals game tapes there.

I'm from Argentina and I love this team, but I'm not blind. They can't handle the 82 games of the NBA regular season.
Manu is the best player, but he can't play more than 30-35 minutes a game if you want to keep him effective and healthy.
I think the team would not make the playoffs in either conference.

BUT....I wouldn't bet against them in a 1 "winner takes it all" game against any NBA team. You name the team. Any of them. I'm confident Arg could compete and win.

By the way, Pepe Sanchez and Walter Herrmann have already informed the Argie coach that they are retiring from the National Team. They won't be in Beijing. :(

So, 5 players from the Olympics winners are gone. 5 very important players.
Argentina's time has passed. It was great while it lasted.

    why not Spain's team:

    Lopez
    Calderon
    JC Navarro
    R. Fernandez
    Garbajosa
    P. Gasol
    S. Rodriguez
    M. Gasol

A lot more guard play than Argentina has, not enough big men though.

If Marc Gasol is half as good as people say he is then they've got 2 big men. And there's the possibility that Garbajosa could be servicable...

Didn't they have that 7'4 centre at the last Olympics too? [he was terrible and look, how shall we say, odd]

Mind you Sam, if I'm a head coach (thankfully I'm not) I might prefer that Spanish squad... it'd be a shootout most nights because none of them can defend...

MAYBE if we made a 'combination' squad of the Argentines and the Spaniards?

Surely THAT would make for a nice lineup?

    PG Calderon
    SG Delfino
    C P Gasol
    PF Scola
    SF Nocioni

    Ginobli
    Navarro
    Oberto
    Herrman
    M Gasol
    Garbajosa
    Fernandez

you could even have Ginobli coming off the bench as the impact guy...

    Name: Argentina Floppers
Record: 55-27 (.67), 4/5 seed in West, 3rd in East.

This team would flop so bad that you can't even touch them. Manu will need to teach Luis some of that skill.

you despise Manu for being a flopper and you want our Luis to do the same?

    i'll take the under.

Their only star quality player is perennially injured (or battling nagging injuries) due to his style of play, noticeably limiting his ability to play his all-out, herky jerky style effectively for big minutes

oh, and they have no bench to speak of. Remember, NBA plays 48 minutes not 40.
