Just a thought...I know in the past, some guys have posted threads about how Keith Jones should be held accountable for injuries and conditioning etc and I have always disagreed with them. Would it be fair to say "Hey Keith, you are the trainer and we have a 48 million dollar guy going thru rehab. You think MAYBE you could have stopped the food intake when he got to like 15 pounds overweight?????" I would tend to think something like this is more his fault than any of the injury problems we have had in the past.
I think this signals a change in strategy for the draft as we can now feel comfortable with our 5 spot. Nobody can say we do not have size and bulk down low: Cato 7/260, Collier 7/260 and MoT 6-10 300. All under contract. I do not see anyone in the draft that would improve on that. So then, in the draft we can now go after SF and PF and forget about a C. Now that it make less sense to trade KT, probably the draft can workout like this for us: 1 Chicago Williams 2 GoldSate Yao Ming 3 Memphis Wagner 4 Denver Nickoloz Tskitsishvili 5 Houston Nene 6 Cland Qyntel Woods 7 New York Chris Marcus 8 LA Clips Curtis Borchardt 9 Miami Drew Gooden 10 Phoenix Chris Wilcox 11 Washin Bostjan Nachbar 12 LA Clip Caron Butler 13 Milwau Stoudamire 14 Indiana Rush 15 Houston Jared Jeffries 16 Philada Melvin Ely
I totally disagree. I think he definitely has the talent to be a force in the NBA, but he doesn't have the right attitude. And by "force," I don't mean a perennial All-Star, I just mean someone who other teams actually have to prepare for. He definitely has offensive talent. Defense and rebounding has more to do with attitude and willingness to work hard hard than it does with talent. Defense and rebounding are really his only problems, and they are BIG problems. But I don't really have any criticism with his offensive game. He's got one of the softest touches for a big man in the league, he can sometimes play with his back to the basket, he shoots a pretty good FT%, he has a high field goal percentage, he doesn't turn the ball over much, he's not a bad passer, and I did see him go to the basket hard and dunk the ball in traffic on quite a few occasions last season. With all of his offensive skills he could easily be an 18 ppg scorer. Remember he only averaged 28 minutes per game last season (for some strange reason), so that had some part in him only averaging 13 per game last year. I really thought he was going to change everybody's opinions this season and my excitement completely dropped when I heard he was out for the year. I'm sure he's gained a lot of weight, but 70 pounds in 7 months almost seems unbelievable to me. This is definitely some sad news, and doesn't make much sense seeing as how excited he was last offseason and how hard he supposedly worked.
1) I said Marc Jackson was a big waste of money and sucks ass. You all dissed me. I was correct in the end. 2) I said Mo Taylor was a big fat waste of money. You all dissed me. I was correct in the end. 3) I said Baron was on par with Stevie. You all dissed me. Again, I was correct in the end. See a pattern forming? BTM <--- Rocket Prophet But seriously though, can someone get me a copy of his diet? Maybe it's like a modifying Atkins diet where he gets a lot of protein and healthy fats... Except you replace the protein with chili dogs and healthy fats with bacon grease. Someone please refresh me to how much money Mo TRAYLOR will be making over the next few years? How the **** do you put on 70 pounds?! He must've sat on his ass all day eating buttermilk and burger patties. Maybe he can share diet tips with Cato. Or they can compete to see who can pack on the most lard in the shortest amount of time.
What happened to those rumors about Mo becoming an iron-pumping fool during rehab?! That's why I didn't give a 2nd thought to him being a little bigger, I thought, "hey, maybe they've talked him into playing some 5 when he comes back, and he's bulking up a bit and getting stronger to handle the bigger bodies." Still want to trade KT?!
Also, this just shows how freakin' lazy he is because there are plenty of weight bearing exercises like swimming that he could do to keep the pounds away in the offseason. What a lazy ass. The next Kemp!
I'm inclined to agree with DearRock. It is possible that Rudy and CD told Mo-T he's gonna play a lot more at center. Maybe. Possibly? Hopefully there's some extra muscle on Mo's frame. As far as the draft, we can grab Tskitsishvili or Quintel Woods. Our 3-spot sucks. Give Rice 24 minutes at the 3, let whomever we draft and T-Mo take the rest.
I question this one too. Because he was forced to sit the bench all season long, he sucks? And I'm still not convinced that Baron is interchangeable with Steve. But I guess its good that you think your own opinions are correct.
OH MY GAWD !!! 70 pounds.....what is it with the Rockets signing guys to long term lucrative deals and they watching them lose focus and coast. They should put some weight clauses in the contract, like Miami did with Tim Hardaway. DaDakota
****ing *****!! How hard is it to follow a little diet? 20 - 25 lbs overweight, not too bad, but 50-70? Cmon, it'll take all freaking season to lose that kinda weight, even with a good work ethic, which apparently he dont have. Follow a moderate ****ing diet you fat fool.
Well the other good thing about the Euro and South American invasions is that the NBA GMs should be less automatic about giving player max for an extended time. Probably fella will think twice about losing focus.
If he has like 80pnds of fat on him that means his BF% is like 30%. Let's say he wants to get his BF% down to 8% a week. He'll only be able to lose about 1pnd of fat a week(through diet, exercise and perhaps ephidrine/caffiene stack). Any more(>1.5) and you will start losing muscle mass with the fat. Mo has a LONG way to go in losing that fat, and he probably doesn't have the will or balls to get on a good regime.
50 to 70pnds of fat loss will likely take upwards of 40 weeks. I know body builders that pack on fat and muscle in the offseason through CRAZY eating(4000+ calories) and they usually go to 20% body fat. They then needs about 3-4 months of INTENSE dieting, cardio and usually supplements like glutaime/ephidrine to retain the muscle and lose the fat. I really doubt a lazy bum like Mo would go on a very healthy diet, take the right supplements and do cardio 5 days a week. It would probably take him at least twice as long to lose the same amount of fat a bodybuilder does. So I don't see a way for him to lose the 70pnds before the season. That's like half of Muggsy Bogues in fat.
I already threw a fit, so I had a question... was this 70 lbs. on top of the "slim & buffed Mo" of last summer that we never saw, or is this 70 lbs. on top of the "original hot shooting, quick fouling, 1st. quarter Mo" we had last season? The first sounded great and tragic, but 70 lbs. on top of the second sounds like the Hindenburg Disaster. " Oh, the humanity!!"
