I'm currently deployed in Iraq so I can't catch many games so I depend on Clutchfans for honest views of how the team is performing. From what I see the Rockets have been KILLING the potential of talented players by playing young guys out of position and/or not playing them at all.

I look at Hill and see a great power foward who they insist at playing as a center, T-Will desreves more time to develop I think he has a higher ceiling than C. Lee or CBud, J. Taylor looked like he earned a better look after his confidence building performance game agaisnst the Lakers last season *he played great D on Koby).

There's a longer list of guys that just didn't pan out which has given us a drought of star talent, when will we force feed the label of "Franchise Player" on a top draft and give them the minutes to develop?

Clutchfans help me out by listing other players we have played out of position and could have deloped better if played in the right spot or played at all.

(This is my first post so take it easy on me.)

Its not uncommon for a 6'10, athletic guys to play center in today's NBA. And, in any case, Hill played a lot of minutes next to a true center this season (Miller).

That's part of my point his time at the power foward spot has been great but as the center not so much to say the least.

greetings and thank you for your service to our country. ive been a rockets fan for 20 yrs. people may not like my opinion... j.hill, p.pat, t.will are all good young players but i dont think any of them will ever become superstars. we are destined to be a sub .500 team until the d.morey era ends or we trade a few of these young guys for a real superstar to build around.

I don't agree with this claim. When you look at players Adelman has developed since they were rookies (Scola, Brooks, Martin, Landry), I would say that Rick has actually maximized their potential based on their talents. The only thing I have yet to see is Rick being able to develop an initial lotto pick to their highest potential (Hill, Patterson, Williams). However, all three lotto picks are either in their rookie or sophomore year. If you've noticed, most players (in particular Brooks, Landry) did not blossom until their third year.

That's a little unfair... he really has no choice. Sure, he could start Miller at Center, but then he'd have Hill, PPat, Budinger, and Lee coming off the bench together. That's a lot of young guys. Miller may be off lately, but he really is the glue that keeps that bench together.

I actually agree with you completely, but that's the problem with being a "player's coach". There's practically no way he can do that without stepping on some toes, and he obviously trusts Bud and Lee more than he does T-Will (for the time being, at least), so he goes with what he knows. I do think Terrence deserves more playing time, though... but I don't think that will come until either a trade comes, or one of Bud/Lee starts playing so bad he has no choice.

In all honesty, there's really too many young guys that we can develop, and not enough minutes to develop them with. I think it's time to get rid of a few guys (aka AB and Battier) to try to open up some spots.

Point taken but to disect it a lil bit Scola is awesome but he was already old (by NBA standards) and developed by the time we got him, sure he had a learning curve to get through but I'll give you that one. Take Landry who many thought he would have been better at small foward, could he have? Maybe but he did very well for us, now look at him he seemed to have slammed into his ceiling. Brooks was a great shooter and became a great scorer but top notch, not yet and maybe never better than he was last year. Martin was good when we got him so I won't count him but he will never really be THE star we need. He's just that piece you need to help a REAL star player.

He's also looked a lot better when he plays with Miller. Whether that's because he's back at the natural PF position or Miller helping him, I don't know.. but the OP is right -- Jordan Hill is a PF playing out of position.
