I've got a $200 hook up on a cell phone, the only trouble is I don't know which one to get. I've got TMobile and I dont want to spend a dime on top of that $200(stupid expensive textbooks), so if any of you people have one of the phones they have up on their site, let me know what you think of your phone.
I just joined TMOBILE, and I got the SONY ERICSON T610, I am loving this phone. The huge color screen is great. And the camera is a neat thing to have on the phone.
The T610 is a bit older. The T630/T637 is the newer version of that phone. But I don't think TMobile has either of those phones yet. I have the T637 with Cingular and it's a nice phone. I got it for -$50 (yes, that'sa negative - as in "you make money") after rebates from amazon.com. Since many places are clearing out the T610, you can usually find them for a good discount on sites like amazon.com. I've seen it being sold for -$100 after rebates.
Be careful of the Sony Ericcson phones, I had three that all stopped working (they would turn themselves off) I have a Nokia 6610 and it is very sturdy, full color, polyphonic ringtones, etc. T-Mobile is the best by far out of the 3 companies I have had contracts with (Sprint and ATT suck)
Get the Motorola V600 that phone is nice. How you get a 200.00 hookup? I need a new phone too, hook it up !
how bout the new samsung d415 slider phone? just ordered it from amazon for $100 after rebate. the only thing i am worried about is the screen getting scratched. i figured i can just put one of those pda screen protecters on it. i am switching from sprint to tmobile. sprint customer service is the worse but i come to the realization that all service providers suck in one way or another. just wanted a new phone and a decent service.
Don't want to blow them up too much, but the TMobile customer service has been awesome to me. I even threatened to leave one time for something really ridiculous (I bought a phone and didn't like it, I wanted them to GIVE me a better phone for free) and they bent over backwards to keep me.
Just checked out amazon.com and they had a ton of sick deals. Unfornately I just locked into a 1 year contract, but I just showed my mom some links and she;s getting a new Nokia for $-120 AFTER activation fees. Sick.
The initial batch of V600's had all kinds of problems and issues, especially when using Bluetooth. You may want to hunt around and make sure the problems or at least the majority of them have been fixed with subsequent firmware releases.
Maybe I should let you do the talking for me in November when it's time to renew my contract I just seem to suck at talking to customer service people in general. Eventually I get my problem solved, but I don't get anything else out of it. DT and I are both about to renew, and he's been looking at the possibilities, but I haven't really thought about anything yet. Hell, who else is good at b****ing to people and getting things accomplished??? Yall can talk to my apartment people and finally get my repairs done for me. They never fully cleaned/painted/repaired my apartment before I moved in, and now a month later, they aren't making any effort to finish it.
I was just about to start a thread on t-mobile.. before I go ahead and resign witih Cingular..... how good is t-mobile?
It varies like every other provider by where you live and the phone you use. Since they're completely GSM, make sure their coverage area covers areas you may need to use the phone in the future.
I read that the V600 was discontinued in some places. It's weird in that the V600 isn't available in my area on the cingular website, yet Best Buy has an ad for it this week. Anyone know what a good tri-band cell phone is for cingular? Like being able to use it in another country?
thanks for the suggestions and keep them coming, i will say for the guy who asked, that ive had tmobile over a year and i live and baytown and havnt had any problems. as far as phone goes i have a sony t100 and what i dont like about it is the speaker is getting soft with age and the snap in charger and head set is no longer connecting like it should so i dont think i will be getting a motorola since it uses the same technology. oh and for the guy talking about renewing in november just go to month to month after your year is up and wait and see what new plans they come out with that way you keep your plan now and if a better one comes up you dont have to pay an early termination fee to get the better plan.
My personal thoughts, get a good camera phone, like the d415 or the V300/600 and then sell it as soon as you unlock it, get a good 300-400 dollars, then spend it on a phone like the sony ericcson K700 which has a camera that you will actually want to use, and also its a great phone, pretty much in every category. But phones like those you dont see Tmobile, or Cingular offering yet.....
