ESPN.com analyzed the OPS (on base percentage + slugging percentage) on a position by position basis around the major leagues. Not surprisingly, the Astros were 2nd in the NL at 1st base (mostly Bagwell) and CF (mostly Berkman). Surprisingly, the Astros third basemen led the NL in OPS and were 3rd in the major leagues. The Astros NL rankings were: P - 15 C - 11 1B - 2 2B - 5 SS - 9 3B - 1 LF - 11 CF - 2 RF - 12 DH - 6 PH - 12 For the complete article, go here: http://espn.go.com/mlb/s/2002/1121/1464082.html
holy crap!!!! that is very surprising at 3B!!!! so maybe we're smart to let someone else pay scott rolen?
I would have thought (without any investigation) that with mostly a combination of Pujols, Rolen, etc. that St. Louis would have been 1st with Lowell putting the Marlins near the top.
