His 45 million extension prolly won't fit perfectly under our salary cap.

Phoenix should have pulled the plug on that Garnett deal. He is having a MVP season because he has good teammates to take off the load. Imagine him in the lineup with Nash. Even if they had traded Amare, Suns still had enough to win it all.

Suns are freaking loaded team from top to bottom they could easily get premiere scorer without giving up a whole lot maybe even Kobe if it comes to that pretty soon.

Right now I don't see anything the Rockets have which might interest the Suns.

    How about Diaw + Banks + Atlanta's 2008 1st (currently #14 pick) for Francis + James + Snyder

This trade was tough because Diaw is BYC.

Why Phoenix does it: Diaw can't play well when Amare is there. He is not producing at his salary. Banks does not fit well in their system and his salary is nothing but a nuisance for them. They gain 3 guards + Snyder plays SF that play better defense than most of their current rotation players. Francis and Snyder are good rebounders for their position (Phoenix gets pounded on the boards). Snyder is an expiring and Francis could opt out. This should savfe them a good amount of money in the short and long term. Phoenix does not even really want the 1st round pick because they cant afford to pay the player they pick (they have been selling picks over the past few years).

Why Houston does it: We get a PF who can play the high post very well. He can also spread the floor out to the 3 point line. He can also play SF effectively. We aren't hurt too bad on our depth at PG since Banks comes in the trade. He may or may not be productive in our system. However, James isn't worth his contract either so it's not too bad of a swap. We now have Alston, Head, Brooks, and Banks at PG and Hayes, Scola, and Diaw at PF. We also have Battier, Wells, TMac, and Diaw at SF. This could open up a trade for Bonzi in the future since he probably won't resign next year anyway. We also gain a roster spot for Mike Harris if we want him back, or gain flexibility for roster spots from future trades.

    Thoughts?

Suns only chance of winning a championship was the 04 season when they had joe johnson and q-rich!....they are fooling themselves if they think they can win a champ now.

Yep but has one of the worst contracts in the league. I think if anybody and i mean anybody they would want from Houston would be Brooks but i say no from Houston. They could use him to keep the pace up while Nash rest.

exactly what I was thinking. I dont know if the suns is willing to take our expiring contracts(Bonzi, Synder, ) for Diaw. The Diaw right now is the Hawk's version. I dont think many other teams have interested in him for the money he is making either.

We would have to give up to much to land him. In 05-06 he started as center when Amare was out and was putting up triple doubles averaging like 13.5 ppg with 7 rebounds 7 assist shooting over 50%. Its safe to say he was a poor mans Grant Hill in his prime. He can pretty much play any position on the court. I would call him a point center something of a unique position.

We would have to give up Battier and Brooks and a Snyder just to land him and i think Phoenix would bite but not me.

They don't miss Q-Rich but they miss JJ big time. He was the guy who could move into Nash's role when Nash was on the bench. He was also another fearless player who could create/distribute in crunch time NEXT to Nash. They lost JJ because the year before he left, Sarver wouldn't cough up an extra $5MM over 5 years. One problem though was that he and Amare didn't seem to get along.

Grew VERY weary of Van Gundy the coach but love him as a commentator. Paraphrasing from the horses' mouth last night vs DAL...

They (the Suns) need to make a decison on Barbosa. They are using him as Nash's backup and that's not his strong suit. He's a cutting, slashing SG. They need to designate Banks as Nash's backup and free up Barbosa to do other things.

Steve Kerr wants to turn the Suns into the Spurs. He should get Bowen flashbacks from Battier...hint...hint. :D
