If you truly want something nice, and you don't mind driving an hour, you could dine at the Inn at Dos Brisas......I think its the only Relais & Chateau rated property in Texas. If you REALLY want nice, you could even stay the night there..........or weekend. It Ain't cheap though. www.dosbrisas.com
Ya it's a buffet. They have a good salad bar with awesome smoked salmon and boiled shrimp. Obviously they have all the breakfast stuff with omelette and waffle station. But I really like the other buffet foods they have (chicken tenders, fried catfish, crawfish etouffee, prime rib, etc...)
Fatty recommended Brenner's on the Bayou and it look exactly like what we were wanting. Reservation made! http://www.brennerssteakhouse.com/bayou/default.htm Thanks to everyone who helped, we will check out some of the other places another time.
benjy's and backstreet are very good and little more on the casual side which is nice. Rainbow Lodge and Ouisies are also great, slightly more dressy
