The Name of the Rose is a great book. If you have time for something more intelectual, read 'Focault's Pendulum' by Eco. Sort of in the same vein as those lame @$$ 'Illuminati' books for their paranoid conspirital view of obscure history, but for people with a brain in their heads. I swear it took me 6 months to read, because I had to stop just about every paragraph and look up some obscure reference.

Umberto Eco has got to be one of the most intelegent people in the world who have wasted their life on obscure, useless information. I wish I was him.

I know this is not type of book you asked for haven, but Angela's Ashes by Frank McCourt is a wonderful book. And even though it won the Pulitzer, most of the book is light-hearted and funny! Great summer reading.

I give it a 5 out of 10 and 4 points of those were for doing a little decent research into quantum physics. Very quick read.

BK: I've actually heard the HP series is very good for all ages. Been meaning to give it a shot, actually...

I'm currently re-reading the Otherland series, since I haven't read the last book and wanted a refresher before I pick it up.

I've done the same before with Jordan's Wheel of Time series, but I figure I'll die an old man before that one ends.

Jam: Stephenson is incredible. Haven't had a chance to pick up 'Crypto' yet...worth it, huh?

And I, too, have yet to read completely through Lord of the Rings. I figure it's one of those that picks up as you go along, but everytime I get started something else takes my interest away from it.

Oh my gawd! I had to read Great Expectations for Honors English before my freshman year in High School...I swear, Charles Dickens describes every single thing to the exact detail...highly annoying...

On the good side, though, I did read The Jungle by Upton Sinclair that summer...slightly nauseating, but a great read

Right now, I'm working my way through the Curious George series...Very thought provoking...I'll never look at a jigsaw puzzle the same way again
