NO ONE is acting like Lowry is the final piece to the puzzle. I started this thread because so many people on this board feel like the Rockets are done for because the lost Rafer ****ing Alston.
I'll be the first to admit that I don't know what to expect from Lowry. I'm still not ready to cash my chips in on the season, tho.
I agree. Lowry is unproven for sure. And I can understand frustration with losing a starter (despite my ripping him, Rafer did do some good things as well), but I think we rolled the dice and I am excited to see how it turns out. It's just the "it's all over now" threads that piss me off...not people who don't like the gamble Let's hope for the best
Two young points guards who have no where but up to go! I'm excited to see them improve and grow in a tandem! Both of them are great driving to the basket. Brooks is the better free throw shooter, but Lowry is the better finisher. Lowry plays a lot better defense; Brooks is a lot better shooter. This is an upgrade at worst! What was Rafer going to do this season anyways? Lowry/Brooks are going to have great experience this year with no veteran point guard in front of them.
I said people were overreacting to the fact that Rafer was traded, it has very little to do with Lowry
im probably the biggest rafer hater here since ive always felt he was the one tmac was having a conflict with, but im not high on this trade like the rest of you. ive always wanted to trade rafer, but that was during the start of the season, when anyone brought in to replace him will have time to familiarize himself with the offense and his teammates. now, youre replacing him with someone who doesnt know how to feed a 7'6" guy in the post, and forcing him to learn all the offensive sets late into the season already. not to mention he's shorter and shoots horribly from 3. wasnt he even blocked by chuck when he drove to the lane? rafer on the other hand hardly gets blocked (unfortunately, his floaters hardly go in either). if this trade was done at the start of the season, im all for it. but this late? its like youre giving up on the season already. brooks has proven he's inconsistent as a pg and yet you gave up your consistent ball handler?
I could've swore I didn't single you out, but maybe I did. Why don't you take a look at the rest of the board. There are some very excited posters out there.
People are overreacting because the season clearly isnt over because Rafer was traded, I still don't fully understand your point have you noticed the 10+ threads about how the Rockets are done for?
I'm with you on this one. A trade involving Rafer would have been better for the Rockets if it was done during the offseason. I think that for the balance of this season, the team had a good chance to jell even without any trades made, and having been playing better without T-Mac than with him unlike three years ago. But now that the trade took place, team chemistry will be the number one issue for the Rockets IMO for the rest of the season.
Yes I have and I don't agree. I don't think we're as strong as we were yesterday though. I hope it works out, but this late in the season its tough to swallow. I also find it hard to see what exactly we got. The money isn't much different and the kid we picked up hasn't proven anything.
Does Morey say they are now shooting for Western Conference Finals? I missed that. Few said over, but if you insist on using the word over, over is relative, depending on what your goals are.
What exactly has Rafer proven during his tenure as a Rocket? That he was the weakest link in the starting lineup? That he is a below average point guard in this league? That he is a horrible shooter who also can't finish around the rim? Sure, he did some good things but I fail to see how they are so important that this team is screwed or even worse off without him. From what I saw out of him, I saw the team score lees point and shoot worse and be extremely inefficient offensively.
So a guy that is not even one of the top 20 starting pgs in the nba is gonna decide this teams fate? I dont buy that. This team is going as far as Yao, Ron, and Luis can take it, regardless of what Rafer was gonna do
An old team, and a young PG... Is it a mature team? I would prefer a very talented and experienced PG with a group of energetic players
When we got Ron, what were you guys thinking about Rocket's goal in this seson? Once we saw the hope for Rockets, with the time going on all fell apart Isn't it frustructing
I don't believe this is a move that is eyeing success this season. That's it. I can wait and see how Lowry fit, but at the present time, you can't convince me that, specially, knowing this team was struggling to find some continuity and they finally found some in last couple of games. So, yes, Rafer is part of that, regardless of how crappy you think he is. He is not replaced by some proven superior talent. So yes, I don't blame people's negative reaction.
It's quite different, ok? PG in celtics has the talents If they don't have a qulified PG They could never win the title Besides, they have Allen and Pierce They are healthy and tough They can also carry the game Not like our Mr. Tmac
