i think you are the one who needs to go back and look at the earlier pages of this thread...just take off your obama colored glasses first and quit being such a tool.

and yes, illegal gun running was going on during the bush administration. it continued and seemingly expanded under obama - but you dont want to talk about that, do you?

and i see that you are a partisan hack.

you realize how much you act like basso circa 2005. people post and discuss legitimate news issues and you mock and try to dismiss. you arent here to discuss the topic - you just want to try to shut others down.

like when people criticized bush for authorizing torture and what was going on at gitmo and his supporters dismissed them saying "haha, i declare this the liberal outrage of the day" and limbaugh made up "club gitmo" t-shirts. it was all a big joke to them - total denial of reality - just like you are doing wrt this story.

like those people, you are so caught up in the cult of personality that even in the face of overwhelming evidence you continue to not only defend your precious, but you mock those who are discussing a serious news story.

so, Holder is a liar. he knew from the moment it happened.

Latest Friday night document dump shows Holder was informed of Brian Terry’s murder on day Fast & Furious weapons killed border agent
By Matthew Boyle - The Daily Caller 4:27 PM 01/28/2012

Attorney General Eric Holder’s Department of Justice dumped documents related to Operation Fast and Furious on congressional officials late Friday night. Central to this document dump is a series of emails showing Holder was informed of slain Border Patrol agent Brian Terry’s murder on the day it happened – December 15, 2010.

An email from one official, whose name has been redacted from the document, to now-former Arizona U.S. Attorney Dennis Burke reads: “On December 14, 2010, a BORTAC agent working in the Nogales, AZ AOR was shot. The agent was conducting Border Patrol operations 18 miles north of the international boundary when he encountered [redacted word] unidentified subjects. Shots were exchanged resulting in the agent being shot. At this time, the agent is being transported to an area where he can be air lifted to an emergency medical center.”

That email was sent at 2:31 a.m. on the day Terry was shot. One hour later, a follow-up email read: “Our agent has passed away.”

Burke forwarded those two emails to Holder’s then-deputy chief of staff Monty Wilkinson later that morning, adding that the incident was “not good” because it happened “18 miles w/in” the border.

Wilkinson responded to Burke shortly thereafter and said the incident was “tragic.” “I’ve alerted the AG [Holder], the Acting DAG, Lisa, etc.”

Then, later that day, Burke followed up with Wilkinson after Burke discovered from officials whose names are redacted that the guns used to kill Terry were from Fast and Furious. “The guns found in the desert near the murder BP officer connect back to the investigation we were going to talk about – they were AK-47s purchased at a Phoenix gun store,” Burke wrote to Wilkinson.

    “I’ll call tomorrow,” Wilkinson responded.

Holder has faced difficult questions surrounding the question of when he was first informed of the gunwalking program. He testified in Congress that he had only learned of Fast and Furious a “few weeks” before a May 3, 2011, House Judiciary Committee appearance.

Holder has since walked back that “few weeks” comment, amending it to more of a “couple months.”

“I did say a ‘few weeks,’” Holder said during a November 8 Senate Judiciary Committee hearing, responding to a question from its chairman Vermont Democratic Sen. Patrick Leahy. “I probably could’ve said ‘a couple of months.’ I didn’t think the term I said, ‘few weeks,’ was inaccurate based on what happened.”

There have also been a series of documents containing the intimate details of Fast and Furious that were sent to Holder throughout 2010 from several of his senior aides. Holder claims he did not read his memos.

Holder will be appearing before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform next Thursday, Feb. 2. Though Holder has already testified before Congress three times about matters relating to Fast and Furious — twice before the House Judiciary Committee and once before the Senate Judiciary Committee — this is the first time the House oversight committee will have an opportunity to question Holder himself.

“The Judiciary Committee has multiple issues with the Attorney General,” House oversight committee chairman Rep. Darrell Issa said in an exclusive interview with The Daily Caller last week. “We have one issue: the issue of breaking the law in order to enforce the law.”

“The oversight committee is investigating the Department of Justice, which is very different than his appearances before the Judiciary Committees in which they’re asking how things are going at Justice. What we’ve discovered in our investigations is a pattern of cover-up [and] delay. Ultimately Congress was given false information and now we’ve had people both resign and take the Fifth as we try to get to the basic elements of why and how was Congress lied to.”

A total of 103 members of the House have called for Holder’s resignation or firing, expressed “no confidence” in Holder via a formal House Resolution, or both. Two sitting governors, two U.S. senators and all the major Republican presidential candidates join those 103 congressmen in not trusting Holder. Many of those who have called for Holder’s resignation have pointed out that Holder claiming that he didn’t read his memos is a sign that he’s admitting incompetence to avoid charges of corruption.

    of course Holder knew.

Issa: Wiretap docs show DOJ knew of gun-walking tactics

Contrary to testimony before Congress, high-ranking Department of Justice officials knew of the "gun-walking" tactics in "Operation Fast and Furious," Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) charged Tuesday, pointing to DOJ wiretap approvals as evidence.

Issa, the chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, called on DOJ to hold several high-ranking agency officials accountable in light of the new evidence.

Issa said he recently reviewed six wiretap applications approved by top DOJ officials indicating that they knew about, and should be held responsible for, not stopping the most controversial aspect of the botched gun-tracking operation.

In a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder on Tuesday, Issa stated that a “remarkable” and “immense” amount of detail was contained within the applications about the tactics of “gun-walking” — letting guns go into the hands of known or suspected criminals — that were used in Fast and Furious.

Assistant Attorney General Lanny Breuer, Deputy Assistant Attorney General Jason Weinstein, and Deputy Assistant Attorney General Kenneth Blanco were responsible for authorizing the 2010 wiretaps, according to Issa, who did not make copies of the authorizations public because of their sensitive nature.

“The applications discussed — in no uncertain terms — the reckless tactic used in Operation Fast and Furious,” Issa wrote. “In light of the information contained in these wiretap applications, senior Department officials can no longer disclaim responsibility for failing to shut down Fast and Furious because they were unaware of the tactics used.”

The committee’s ranking Democrat, Rep. Elijah Cummings (Md.), balked at Issa’s assertions, calling them unfounded and mischaracterizations.

Cummings said — in a 10-page letter responding to Issa — that these top-ranking DOJ officials did not personally review any of the six wiretap applications.

Instead, as has been standard practice across multiple administrations, deputy assistant attorneys general reviewed summaries of the wiretap applications as prepared by attorneys in the Office of Enforcement Operations, according to Cummings.

In testimony before Congress and in letters to lawmakers, the DOJ has maintained that it has no evidence indicating senior agency officials knew about or approved the “gun-walking” tactics used in Fast and Furious.

Cummings's letter cited sworn testimony before the committee of Weinstein, in which he explained the wiretap review process. He had only reviewed a summary of the wiretap applications and said that he did not know at any time that guns were being walked in Fast and Furious.

At the request of Holder, the DOJ’s inspector general for more than a year has been conducting its own investigation of the failed operation and who was responsible. Holder and President Obama have said they are awaiting the IG’s report before holding agency personnel responsible, if necessary.

Issa said that the information in the wiretaps was evidence enough to take action against the top-ranking DOJ officials.

“With the wiretap applications in possession of the committee, the Department can no longer push such information away from its political appointees,” Issa wrote. “These appointees were responsible for approving the reckless tactics used during Fast and Furious.”

“It is time for you to honor your commitment to Congress and the American people by holding these individuals accountable,” Issa said.

Cummings called on Issa to meet with current and former DOJ officials, including former Attorney General Michael Mukasey under President George W. Bush, to develop a bipartisan review and reform of the wiretap application review process.

Issa has been investigating Fast and Furious for 15 months in an attempt to uncover who in the DOJ knew about the operation, and has made repeated claims that high-ranking agency officials approved the tactics used.

Last month Issa began circulating to members a draft copy of a resolution that would place Holder in contempt of Congress for not turning over a cache of documents that he subpoenaed late last year.

Border Patrol group calls for Holder’s resignation
By Jerry Seper-The Washington Times Monday, June 18, 2012

The National Border Patrol Council, which represents all 17,000 of the agency’s non-supervisory agents, called for the resignation Monday of Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. for his role in the botched “Fast and Furious” gunrunning operation that resulted in the death of a U.S. Border Patrol agent.

Council President George E. McCubbin III, a 25-year Border Patrol veteran himself, described Mr. Holder’s actions in the case as “a slap in the face to all Border Patrol agents who serve this country,” adding that the attorney general has shown “an utter failure of leadership at the highest levels of government.”

Two semi-automatic AK-47 assault weapons found at the scene of the Dec. 15, 2010, killing of Border Patrol Agent Brian A. Terry were traced by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) to “straw buyers” who bought the weapons as part of the Fast and Furious investigation.

Agent Terry died during a gunfight with heavily armed Mexican bandits along the U.S.-Mexico border south of Tucson. More than 2,000 weapons purchased during the ATF-led Fast and Furious operation were “walked” to drug smugglers in Mexico. More than 600 of them are still missing.

Mr. McCubbin said Border Patrol agents are indoctrinated from day one of their training that “integrity is their most important trait … and that without it, they have little use to the agency.” He said agents who lie or show a lack of candor are quickly disciplined.

“The standard that applies to these agents should at a minimum be applied to those who lead them,” Mr. McCubbin said. “If Eric Holder were a Border Patrol agent and not the attorney general, he would have long ago been found unsuitable for government employment and terminated.

“The heroism that Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry demonstrated on that cold night in the desert of Arizona was in keeping with the finest traditions of the United States Border Patrol and will never be forgotten by those who patrol this nation’s borders,” he said.

Mr. McCubbin said the “political shenanigans” surrounding the Fast and Furious operation and “passing the blame” must stop.

He noted that a Border Patrol agent cannot accidentally step foot in Mexico without myriad U.S. and Mexican government agencies being made aware, so Fast and Furious had to have been conducted with the knowledge and tacit approval of the Justice Department and the Obama administration.

“It is time for Attorney General Holder to show the least shred of responsibility and leadership and resign his post,” Mr. McCubbin said. “Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry deserves nothing less.”

Last week, Mr. Holder told the Senate Judiciary Committee he had “no intention” of resigning, adding that he heard the White House press officer say the president has “absolute confidence in me.”

His defiance came after Sen. John Cornyn, Texas Republican and a senior Judiciary Committee member, called on him to quit, saying Mr. Holder had failed “the basic standards of political independence and accountability” in determining who knew about or approved the “walking” of guns into Mexico.

“Americans deserve an attorney general who will be honest with them,” he said.

Meanwhile, Judicial Watch, the Washington-based public watchdog group, has filed a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit against ATF seeking access to Fast and Furious records detailing communications between ATF officials and Kevin O´Reilly, former White House director of North American affairs at the National Security Council.

The lawsuit was announced Monday by Judicial Watch spokeswoman Jill Farrell, who said CBS News reported that Fast and Furious documents released by the Obama White House in September 2011 “show extensive communications” between ATF officials and Mr. O’Reilly. She said the requested records include a flowchart showing the ultimate destinations of the Fast and Furious weapons.

BATFE needs to go down hard. Giving out false stats on guns found in Mexico then putting more guns there themselves? No one regulates them, apparently not even the Attorney General.

Obama asserts executive privelege over the docs congress has asked for.

Whether he was before, Obama is certainly involved in the cover up now.

By asserting EP, Obama admits the Office of the President had direct knowledge of Fast and Furious prior to implementation.

Cover up of what? I haven't followed this. I need you to elaborate for me, in detail. Preferably in your own words.

    Thanks in advance.
