so because these idiots are threatening her we are like them for discussing her behavior that night? what does this have to do with this thread. no one is defending this town. no one is going to defend these girls. you are trying to link all this to an emotional subject because you don't like the posts. i'm not going to continue on the ranting.

if these guys didn't rape her they probably would have done something else stupid and despicable. i just hope one lesson young women would take from this is to be careful when drinking and i don't think its despicable that i'm pointing that out.

    thanks for the rational discussion

True. But was it attended/supervised by the assistant coaches? If not, then what is the difference between this party and any other high school bacchanal?

Sadly, rape can happen in any country/culture.

Obviously, quite dangerous, since she got raped.

Perhaps you and I remember high school differently, but the high school parties I went to were WORSE than any college party, in that you had younger attendees who think they're immortal/bulletproof and can do whatever they want. And because beer was harder come by, they drank in excess far more. At least college students have a couple years more life experience under their belts.

I don't think pgabriel is trying to say she should have known that this was going to happen. Just that, if she drank herself into oblivion, she could have taken steps to prevent being in such a vulnerable spot.

Maybe, maybe no. Sadly, since a tox screen was not done the night of, we'll probably never know for sure.

I don't think we're arguing it ISN'T rape. Just that there were steps she did not take to protect herself from such an assault. It's a sad state of affairs that women have to worry about such things, but the reality is that they do, since education about the evils of rape is sadly lacking in our society.

Never said you were like those girls. Also I never said I don't like the posts you are arguing. This is a forum, there is going to be a clash of opinions. The reason I posted that link is because like I said earlier this girl is going through a lot, maybe it'll be a common courtesy to stop discussing the topic of her drinking at that party, because we're beating a dead horse on that subject. Both sides have their opinions, I may not agree with yours and you don't agree with mine. That's fine, this is why we have a forum to discuss.

Except that is exactly what you are implying in EVERY one of your posts, exactly like the OP did. You are trying really hard to make it a point that she was drunk and put herself in a bad situation, and for this she is partly at fault for getting RAPED. Doesn't this mean she needs to accept some responsibility, in your mind? This has to be the most aggravating thread to read with people who take RAPE so lightly that they are willing to discuss how the victim did something at the wrong place or wrong time that made them more likely to get RAPED.

The story is still developing, we'll just have to wait and see.

I know that, but being in a more comfortable environment like a high school party with your classmates and in Ohio? I don't know the statistics in rape crimes in Ohio but I'm guessing it's a lot lower than somewhere in third world country. I could be wrong though???

Acutally she didn't know, she was in a comatose state.

Getting **** faced drunk is considered good times if you ask me, especially in high school.

Yep, that's how a rational adult in this type of situations would think, we're talking about a teenage girl who got **** faced drunk.. Teenagers are stupid, that's why they're teenagers. Who knew teenagers are capable of rape, especially ones that are on a highly caliber football team known throughout Ohio??? These kids usually make All-American and get to meet the president and all that other bullsh!t or however the media portrays them to be..

    I can agree to that.

I agree, you have to be aware of your surroundings and be careful who you hang out with, but being a teenager all you want to do is be wild and crazy. That's all teenagers want to do is have fun until some douchebag ruins it for everybody...

The best I can say for some of you is that you might be mildly autistic for getting hung up on a (GASP!) underage girl drinking. "The law is the law ma'am! Sorry about the rape, but I also noticed your tail light is out."

Everyone agrees, so you can stop already. Getting drunk to the point of losing consciousness is a bad idea, and you cannot defend yourself very well in that state. We get it. Everyone got it a billion years ago. So when you keep posting about it, people will start thinking you have some other intent.

Rape is still rape. It's not a fraction of rape because the girl had a lot to drink. When you go on about the drinking, it (perhaps erroneously) hints to people you are part of a long, sad tradition that suggests raping a drunk person is less of a rape. like "stealing things left on a lawn," as one poster put it.

That idea disgusts me, and IMHO, it should disgust a fully modern and civil society.

rape is still rape, i agree you can stop posting waaahwaaaahwah, when you go on about i have to keep responding and say i didn't take anything away from it.

when you keep posting it, it makes me think that a smart guy such as yourself lacks reading comprehension because i never said anything contrary.

seriously, this started because people said it like it was okay that she was that drunk (aside from the rape)

The article was run by my news feed on my phone, it was linked to a satirical article on the case. I about had a heart attack. The article has since been taken down.

Clearly she knows it was wrong for her to get that drunk. She now has to live with the fact that she was violated for the rest of her life. Having a family member that was brutally raped, she will never trust or be the same again.
