    How good will this be?

I like to look at the Star Trek Series
While Next Generation was the flag ship
each one after it was worse than the one before it

DEEP SPACE > VOYAGER <> ENTERPRISE [still not feeling this one]

Atlantis is getting that Voyager feel
will be worse than the original
    and kind of weak.

    Looking at the 'sneak preview'
i have missed the last season of SG1
so i got to catch up on

But Where do you . . who watch . .see this on going

Have never watched Stargate, but I'd rate the Star Trek shows like this:

    1. Star Trek: The Next Generation
    2. Star Trek
    3. Voyager
    4. Deep Space Nine
    5. Enterprise (unwatchable... and Captain Archer looks way too much like George W Bush)

Very tough to say. I'll give it a season. It looks like the special effects budget may be at a high since the Showtime days. I expect Worf, I mean, Teal'c to show up in the second season.

    I understand
I think DS9 was better than Voyager

    This looks like Voyager
Long on chattnig talking and relationships
short on fighting and sci fi stuff

    Rocket River
I will give it a year or two

My wife is a Trekkie of sorts so I have seen many epsiodes.

I thought the season on DS9 with the war was better than any season of TNG.

When the Federation assassinated the Romulan ambassador to drag them into the conflict.....best episode ever.

Voyager was mediocre until they brought in Jeri Ryan as eye candy.

Enterprise seasons 1+2 were pretty boring, season 3 was great except for the old west planet.

    --------------------------------------

Stargate was one of the worst movies ever yet the TV series is not so terrible.

I never could get into DS9... too soap opera for me. TNG was my favorite. Voyager was a very distant second - the only saving grace for that show was any Borg episode (as usual with me). The point when it got really cool on Voyager was when the Borg met their match in Species 8675309 (or whatever the number was). Outside of that Jane Hathaway and Thong Song boy pale in comparison to Jean Luc Picard. :)

Early on in its life...I would say Enterprise was pretty bad. But, the last two seasons it has really picked up. I watched almost all the shows from this most recent season and really enjoyed them. I liked the overall plot direction and it appears they need to find a new plot starting next season as this one was resolved in the season finale apparently.

I think if you gave up on it early on...you probably haven't watched it lately which is kind of too bad cause I think it has become a much tighter show, a better developed cast, and more interesting. Of course, I'm not going to try to convince anyone here that it is a better show than it was because that would be a waste of time. I will say that it is very difficult to be the fifth ST show and still keep it original and interesting. I believe it took them a while but they did realize the show stunk early on and made efforts to remedy that by evolving the characters/plot which I believe did pay off. I would wonder that if you did watch the last seasons' shows and still didn't like it...what your reasoning is?

My understanding is a lot of people will diss Enterprise who gave up on it after the first season. However, I would be surprised if current viewers still said it stunk. By the way, I never got into DS9 and, although I forced myself to watch it on occassion, I could never get into it. So, it rates the lowest of the Trek totem pole for me.

As for this new show, I've never even heard of it before this thread. If it is related to the Stargate SG-1 show or a spin-off from it, then I won't even touch it as I despise that show. I wish Richard Dean Anderson didn't take that on and brought back MacGyver instead so I could watch him build a car using a pocket knife or something. :(

Blasphemy! Voyager was just plain awful, episode after episode, while DS9 at times was equal to or greater than TNG.

BTW, I saw Michael Dorn (Worf) sans makeup on a rerun of "7th Heaven" the other day, and I kept expecting him to say things like, "If you were any other man, I would kill you where you stand." I was quite disappointed.

SG:A looks like it'll suck. I hope I'm wrong, though, because TV needs more cool sci-fi shows. I could brainstorm better Stargate spin-off ideas than freaking Atlantis.

The problem with Enterprise with me is
    WHAT DO THEY NOT HAVE
They seem to have everything the others had
    teleporters, etc

I think they can even get Warp 9

I'll try out Atlantis and see how it goes.

However, those of you that don't like DS9 need to pick it up about halfway into season 5 and watch the next season and a half. IMHO, this is the best run of television ever for any series, not just Star Trek. Yes, I said ever.

I think what ruined it for me was I used to watch "Spencer for Hire" and Avery Brooks as "Hawk" was a baaaad bad man. Then I see him on DS9 and he looks like a wimp. Could never get past that. :)

Ill check it out for the first season unless its unbearably bad. There is a lack of decent sci-fi TV series right now so ill watch about anything thats on.

That's the problem. Most sci-fi shows suck in their first season and need time to establish the "rules" and "characters" of that particular universe. Had FOX not given up on Firefly, I'm sure the show would have built into something great. SG:A won''t suffer a similar fate as Firefly, though, because 1) it has the "Stargate" brand name (which people are already familiar with) and 2) it's on cable and CAN weather a viewer drop-off if need be (whereas on network TV, if you can't bring in the viewers, you're DONE).
