Yeah the work team was such a bust. It was free but that definitely let people feel they didn't need to show up. We were playing on makeshift crews ever week it seemed. After going 1-5 they pretty much just forfeited the last few games. Thank GOD I didn't pay.

Basketball has taken a backseat lately. Tennis and Martial Arts is at the top now. I plan on playing again maybe next season if ya'll continue to keep the team together. I actually wouldn't mind coming and cheeringyou guys on and attempting to manage minutes as I know it can be difficult with everyone wanting minutes. Sometimes it's good to have someone who doesn't mind sitting out.

Good luck and I know you will be owning them again in the D league.

I still would like to see you get the ball even though the double team is waiting. I believe you can't just let the zone force you away from your game. If the ball comes down to you it makes the already open perimeter player that much more open because now you've caused the double team to commit instead of shadowing you. We played a lot of perimeter game first and then went inside but if you want better looking shots from the outside you HAVE to make the defense commit to the double team.

A must is some backscreens from one block to the other for you. Even if they don't switch you're causing movement in the paint which will confuse the defenses. We do tend to stand around a bit on offense so more movement will be necessary to break the zones up especially if our outside shooting is poor that night.

As for clutch's big friend. That would definitely put us as serious contenders for the league championship. As it was I believe our team had a very good chance to win the last time. A few mental lapses and the game was over for us. We had control and we gave it up defensively. I blame myself for not making the right adjustments that night on defense. Our offense wasn't clicking but that doesn't mean our defense should have taken a nap, though to give that one guy credit he was hitting everything in the second half.

Hey, sorry for not posting and keeping everyone up to date with me, but I thought this thread was long dead until rush called me to fill me in earlier today.

After reading through a lot of the posts, I have to admit I'm somewhat dissapointed.

The fact everyone feels we HAVE TO add more size inside (which would of course cut into what would probably have been not a ton of playing time anyway for me) and the fact that none of our original Stalkers has come out to even vouch for me kind of dissapoints me to a degree.

I'll be first to admit, I'm no great player. Two not so perfect knees and the lack of being able to fully stay fit and in shape that comes with being married (to a good cook :D ) with a child hasn't helped. But, I still have the fight and desire to do anything to win and feel I could help in many areas for our team to do that. I thought I had proved myself enough as such that first season when I continueosly battled and fought with multiple guys twice my size inside the whole season. I fought for every rebound I could for our team cause I thought that is what I needed to do the most in my role to help us win.

I'm pissed as hell the way that season played out. I don't care what anyone says, we could have not only played with those teams, but could have won some of them as well. But, we didn't get it done and it leaves a HORRIBLE taste in my mouth everytime I think of the embarrasement it was to lose by 30+ points every game. I'm not happy with my play as well. I feel like, even thought I battled as much as I did, I still played like crap. I don't care how big the other teams were or that I was playing on a hurt leg, I can't stand that I didn't do more for my team.

Anyway, if you guys all feel that there is a clear better player for my spot, a player that would help you out more, or hell, just feel like I don't belong on the team, just let me know. I'll be dissapointed, but I'll get over it. I'm not trying to come off as some cry baby or anything, I just need to know. For the most part, I'm ready to go and looking for some revenge. But, if the team feels like I'm either hurting the team or preventing a better option from playing, just tell me cause I don't want to waste either of our time.

Either way, I'm looking forward to the Stalkers laying some wood and kicking some serious ass this season!!!

I don't know if we will have a bye week. There are total of 10 teams including ours playing in the D leage and there are only 4 games on tuesday. So that means there are two teams that have no game on tuesday. I think the other team is No Vertical. We might play them tomorrow. I dont know. I will call them up and check on it.

Cool Cool, yeah that makes sense if we are the 10th team then the other team will not get a bye...of course that is all dependant if they can get ahold of the other team...the sooner we play the better....

damn, i really want to play with you guys. i just don't want to pony up the money or make a time commitment right now. plus, with the influx of players i could imagine playing time for everyone being even less. granted, i didn't really contribute much when i was in the game. for whatever reason, i seem to be more efficient in half court pick up games than i do full court. i'd definitely wouldn't mind running some practice pickup games with you guys though...as soon as ya figure out when and where.

looking at the roster and having played with all of you, it should be a sick team. I predict many blowouts if the comp was anything like it was last year.

I think for the first couple of games they will not say anything to you. Just have a dark Blue shirt or a white shirt just in case depending on which color we have to wear. They say that the number has to be written on there no tape etc...so you can use a permanent marker on the white shirt to put a number until you get a jersey to match...that would be the easiest...

Ask Kurt where he got his because he got one after the initial set i believe...

yea according to biggie, marcus is hard to get ahold of. he hardly returns messages i think but keep trying. i might give it a call later on today...

about the jerseys though, i wanted to get new ones, but currently we have a white and navy blue reversable tops w/ numbers. we got them from a place around the corner from here that premade them for us. not the greatest but they work. clutch and josh bring their own of each color so you might want to ask them how to get the number on.....i might get me a new one as well so their answer could benefit the both of us

I picked up a Blue/White reversible jersey from Academy for around $10 and then bought some $2 iron-on patches from Walmart. - Yes, I am the Martha Stewart of the team. :)

I would wait before putting on a number anyway unless you know what the other guys are wearing or want to dig up the old thread. I am #11, mainly b/c #1 was taken and '1' is the easiest number to cut out of the patches.

Since everyone is wondering, this is pretty much what I did too. I got my reversible at Academy (make sure it's NAVY blue on one side, not sky blue or whatever), and then I went to a little hole in the wal sports material place (jerseys, trophies, equipment, etc.) and got the iron on numbers for a couple bucks a pop. All came out to about $20. Sounds like you can just go to Wal Mart like Yao did for the numbers.

I tried doing that but couldn't find numbers in white and in black without paying $5-7 for each set. Also, the single numbers that I found at places like Michael's where for Letterman's jackets.

IIRC, I ended up having black and khaki numbers - but whatever works.

RocketFire, I don't know if you have a Hobby Lobby near you, but I imagine they have plenty of iron on stuff there and if you want to just get a white and a navy shirt for now, they sell plain T's for incredibly cheap.
