SSD are actually dropping in prices meaning they're getting below the .50cent/GB threshold lately. You can probably get an Crucial MX100 or SanDisk Ultra Plus 500GB SSD for less than $250 if you know where to look. They're not the fastest SSDs in the world, but are definitely faster than a standard HDD for sure.

My Samsung 840 EVO 1TB was $419.99. I think it's considered one of the best SSDs and also a pretty good price/GB ratio.
Agreed, but I'm not paying 400 dollars for an SSD. I'd rather pay 200 for half the size and get a 1TB+ HDD for whatever which is my setup at the moment (128GB Samsung 830 = 1TB + 1TB + 320GB Raptor 10k).
