I saw Squeeze on Sunday, and my wife liked it so much she saw them again on Monday.

    It was a great show.

The thing is Squeeze were always the masters of the Octave harmony between Difford and Tilbrook. It was on many many many of their records. A lot of bands use it, but their voices just seemed to mesh so well, and really be suited to one another.

At the show they were solid. Normally with any kinds of harmony it is easy for one person to start or finish a note a fraction of second ahead or behind the other person, especially when the vocal rhythms are complicated. Sometimes it's even a good thing.

With Squeeze though their voices were dead on. It was prefect. And there were plenty of tricky vocal rhythms to contend with, but it was just amazing to witness. Glen Tilbrook's was fantastic with no noticeable deterioration at all.

It was a really fun show.

If I didn't love you my goodbye girl, I'd be cool for cats and live up the junction where I like pulling mussels from a shell when I'm tempted by black coffee in bed.

Where was Squeeze playing? I saw them with Steve Nieve and Pete Thomas of the Attractions in the 90's and Glen Tillbrook's solo appearance at the Continental Club in 2001. I really, really want to see them again.

They played at the Grove of Anaheim, and then at the Greek in Los Angeles.

They are pushing a compilation that has just been released and are doing a limited tour.

Did somebody at the show have a sign that read, "If you don't play Tempted, we riot"?

I like them a lot. Who sang the lead vocals on "Tempted"?? I can't imagine what that song sounds like without Paul Carrack's vocal.

It was all Glen except for the phrases where Chris Difford came in. It was different without the trading off between Carrack and Tillbrook, but Tillbrook did a good job on it.

Just imagine the half of the song that Glen Tillbrook normally sings, and double it. That's pretty much how it sounded.

Is that one of the shows that Fountains of Wayne played with them? I would've loved to have seen that bill.

Yes Fountains of Wayne opened for them both nights. It was obvious that Glen Tillbrook is a big Fountains of Wayne fan as well. I have the first FoW CD, and they played a tight set. It seemed like they were having a lot of fun.

I love their new disc, Traffic and Weather. I'm a big fan of Welcome Interstate Managers other than Stacy's Mom, which I didn't like at all.

I feel the exact way about Stacy's Mom. That was the first song I heard and it pissed me off. But a friend who's taste I trust swore to me that it was a good disc, and eventually bought me a copy.

The songs from their new CD sounded even better.

Really ticked that they're coming nowhere near me. They were the first band, as a really young kid, that I was into every song. A few years later, when I was 7, I got a Squeeze greatest hits LP for Christmas.

It's such a deceptive song because they really sound nothing like that. Traffic and Weather is SO Beatle-y and I luvs me some Beatles. :)
