What's up with Sportcenter and their live music guests? I'm watching Alanis Morresette and wondering, "wtf"?

    Do we need this?

I've long defended Sportscenter when people bash it.

But this week was the last straw. I contacted my "contact" at ESPN and told him I was officially off the bandwagon.

He said ratings have never been higher and to expect more of this nonsense.

    Ugh...

Would it be safe to say SportsCenter has officially "jumped the shark" or did it happen before this? Not ESPN as a whole, just SportsCenter.

(Some will say it was when they let Stuart Scott talk.)

I think SC went downhill when Rich Eisen left.

Ok Maybe not, but I severely miss his Skip Caray impression. It was dead on.

I thought they were doing it to correlate with the "Sports and Music" special. I must've been wrong.

Stuart Scott was not all that bad in his early years. It wasn't until the late 90s I believe that he started using ebonics way too frequently.

I sensed something was amiss whenever the "ultimate highlight" thing started whoring out recently released singles..

I wish ESPN would stick to covering what they do best: Poker, lumberjacks and spelling bees.

When the Patrick/Oberman and Eisen/Scott tandems were split up, it was over.

yup. eisen and scott were really good together and it's probably no coincidence that i basically stopped watching sportscenter when eisen left and scott turned into what he is now.

I agree. He was pretty decent and sometimes good until he became one the the primary guys on the show. Its just the past few years that he has been unbearable.

Sportscenter has been going downhill for a while and this musical guest thing is about the lamest thing they have done.

I thought it started to suck after the 80s.

I got ESPN cut off a few months ago. I usually only get it for the NFL season.

Anyway a couple of weeks ago they put on a few extra channels for three days trial. So I decided to see what ESPN had on...

    Ping Pong, Spelling......just garbage.

And Sportscenter.....I remember when we first got ESPN over here in Australia....I watched an hour of Sportscenter ever day. Its was an hour of great sporting news.

Then all of a sudden....its was highlights of just the major games "Lakers, Yankees.....Lakers, Yankees....Laykers, Yankees..." and a quater of an hours of everything all.

One day I realised....Im watching hours worth of **** every week to see about 2 minutes of a scoreline flash up from a Rockets game!

Even the NFL coverage went bad. I used to love watching the NFL Pre Game shows. Then all a sudden Stuart Scott and his high chair shows up.

Sometimes I feel like I need a fricken translater to know what the hell he is talking about!!!

ESPN went down the tubes when they started showing freaking poker and cheeleading championships. If you can show poker on ESPN, you may as well put chess on there, too.

I've kind of been digging the Poker, but I haven't seen a SportsCenter in months. I used to plan my late evening around SC, now I just watch the Daily Show.

    Funny you said that.

During my three days of free ESPN they had a guy playing Chess against a computer.

    Must see TV....

Funny thing is we can b**** all we want, but I for one still religously watch the show 3x a day.

Where else you gonna turn for sports news?

Sadly, my cable provider doesn't carry ESPNNews and Fox Sports is a joke.

    I miss CNNSI
