Agreed. Well, that's the funny part. This whole thing would have been a one-day story if the president had a simple one sentence response that a basically secure adult would give, for example: "I'm honored to serve my first day as president of this great country, I don't find attendance numbers to be of great concern compared to work I have ahead of me, I'm looking forward to rolling up my sleeves and getting to it." But Trump and Conway and Spicer have transformed this into a three, maybe four day story (until the next outrage.) It's no different from the campaign, there were countless times that Trump made a really bad story stick to himself for an entire news cycle with his own lies and immature responses. I have to say that the tweet that was quoted earlier may be very insightful. The deliberate use of lies is a tool to wedge his loyal base further from the majority, and then weaken the very idea of the existence of facts so that that middle 1/3 give up. I mean, look at you- you're blaming the media for covering what he says.

BTW, if Trump really needed to swing his dick around, he could have pointed out that he raised $90 million for his inauguration, which is only $8 million less than Obama raised for both inaugurations combined ($55 million in 2009, $43 million in 2013).
