ok well i just got pulled over a couple hours ago, my question is...the last ticket i got was in november of last year and i took defensive driving for that one, now i get this one and im thinkin of doing defensive driving again...but you can only take DD once a year...would the other ticket count as taking DD this year or last year?? because the ticket was issued last year in november..and i took DD to clear it from my record just last month...

damn, welcomed to my world. i got one on Thursday going to the rox game. my trip to Live thread.

i'm kinda in the same situation. i took DD in September of last year, but only for work training hours, not to remove a ticket. someone said i can still take DD to remove this current ticket since the last class wasn't for that purpose. so, i dunno.

btw, i think it's a year from your last class, not calender. :(

Years ago, my wife and I took DD for insurance purposes. Within a year she got a speeding ticket. She was allowed to take DD again to remove the ticket since the previous instance was for insurance purposes.

One thing for sure.. do not get a lawyer. Most of those suckers don't even really care about your case as long as they get the $$$.

I'm not sure how you can get that off your record once you already got the ticket...

But when I get pulled over, I usually act like I'm really lost and panic-y, and I just got to America from Asia via a boat. Gotta have that accent to a T though. The cop always lets me off with a warning.

Don't really know if it works if you're not Asian.. oh and plus it helps that I look 16 and nerdy. I think it's my glasses.

why dont you just do deferred disposition. its kinda costly because youll probably have to pay the amount of the fine but if you finish the probation period without getting a ticket theyll dismiss it and it wont be on your driving record.

I had to take defensive driving in december, (driving 25 in a 20  ) and they told me I could pay a fee and be able to take DD as many times as I wanted this year, or I could just take DD and not be able to take it again.

Didn't you read? They're just gonna get another ticket in a few months and get doubled up on the fines :p

Take this for what it's worth:

I got a ticket sometime around last March/April. I took DD class for it. I got another ticket over this past Xmas break. I didn't think I could take DD class again because of the one year rule, but I figured it couldn't hurt to try. Took DD class in March (waited til the one month grace to pay the ticket or opt for DD class, then waited until the end of the two months grace they give you to take the DD class). No fines, no warrant, no increase in insurance.

Once again, I am going to plug David Sprecker.

He will get you out of the ticket. It will cost more than the ticket, but it won't be on your record, which will save you money in the long run.

Not him, but I did use a lawyer once for my ticket. They must be paying someone because when it came to people he represented, the cop was never there for any of the people (10 from the day I was there). So it was dismissed.

there is an easy way around this. when you go to court to plead, just say not guilty, trial by jury. they will give you a court date 3 to 4 months from now. about a month before that court date, go to the court and request a new date, they will give you another one, 3-4 months from your old time.

that's a total of 7 or 8 months from now which puts you past a year since the last time you took defensive driving. go back to the court, say you changed your mind and want to take dd and you're good to go.

or by that time you could actually go to court and it's unlikely the cop will show. that's a bit riskier than just clearing it with DD though.

Wow. Would I get caught as an accomplice if they later got busted for corruption?

Only if you knew about it, I suppose.
