I got a speeding ticket a couple weeks ago, and I just tried to call and submit my DSC application over the phone. The One Call Solution Center rep just told me at this point in time, my ticket is with the Legal Department. She recommended me to call back periodically to schedule it because my court date might change. I'm not sure why I have to wait. I'm trying to avoid appearing in court by setting up DSC application before the court date. This is my first speeding ticket, so I'm not too familiar with the process. Anyone know why I was recommended to wait?
When is your court date? I had something similar happened to me. Got a ticket on the 28th of February. Wanted to schedule my Defensive driving before than. My court date was on April 3rd. Basically I had to check everyday until the officer turned in my ticket to get process. The Ass didn't turn it in until April 2nd. For a second there, I thought I was home free and he forgot to turn it in. But I guess he was just being lazy and wasting my time.
My court date is May 6th. That sucks. The Legal Department is what they call the police officer? So the officer doesn't have to turn it in until 1 minute before my court date?
Give the cop a week or two and hope he wasn't like my cop. When I called to talk to the people that processed the ticket, they said he had until April 3rd to turn it in. If he doesn't, than I was home free. They told me they usually have it processed a week or two after you get the ticket. You just got pulled over by a lazy officer like I did. I hate speed traps on an empty road.
I just called to try and request my DSC over the phone. The One Call Solution Center representative just said my ticket was defective! Apparently, the officer didn't write the day of the offense. He wrote the month and year, but he didn't write the day. I used this site: http://www.houstontx.gov/courts/faq/faq-defensive.html If I didn't request by phone, how would I know my ticket was thrown out by the legal department?
Yes. That's what the rep told me. She said the ticket was thrown out by the legal department. I only have that phone conversation as confirmation. She told me that I didn't have to go to court any more because the ticket was defective. I think I annoyed her since I kept asking. I should have asked if I would be getting something in the mail to confirm
That link above that you posted. When you click on pay your ticket and enter in your ticket number do you see anything?
It says "Please enter up to the first 9 characters (including alphabetical characters, if any) of your ticket number and click search." I'm entering the ticket number exactly as it says
Nothing shows up. Just "Verify your ticket number and ensure your ticket is eligible for payment." But the ticket number search is as far as I can go. It doesn't say it's been thrown out, nor does it say I can continue to pay
Than that means it's not in the system. Once in the system, you can find it and pay it on the link you posted. You should be good to go. If you're paranoid about it, check again before your court date. You are one lucky guy.
