I know most people here don't use Linux, but just in case you do, here is a great program for running sopcast on linux!! The streaming program is called sopcaster and it can be downloaded from here: http://petepr.drivehq.com/humpty/sopcaster/sopcaster.tar.gz After unzipping the file, you will find an executable called sopcaster -- this is your main streaming program. You also need a media player program to play the downloaded videos, one such player that I've found to be working is the MPlayer-1.0rc1, which can be downloaded from: http://www.mplayerhq.hu/design7/dload.html Once you've compiled mplayer, you can just run sopcaster to stream from your favorite channels. The GUI is extremely simple to use. Let me know if you have any questions. -NP
I would think that you could use VLC as your media player, too. It's a vastly popular media player that cross-platforms. http://www.videolan.org/vlc/
Streaming Television programs? Is it free? Is there a mirror program for windows? Cable programming? Live streaming?
Yes, you can watch a rather large number of TV channels from all over the world. Yes, it's 100% free. The mirror program for windows would be sopcast (http://www.sopcast.org/) which a lot of people here use to watch Rockets games. I'm not sure what cable programing is, but this is just like internet tv (or is it?). I think it's live with respect to the TV channel. I'm watching the replay of today's Rockets vs. Lakers game on one of the basketball channels right now. It's very simple.
