If I had a dollar for every lyric that made me cry, scream, get angry, get happy, etc, I'd be a VERY rich man. For me, the music and the lyrics are inseparable. I've read beautiful poetry but it never moves me like words and music put together. I'm a musician - go figure. ------------------ Me fail English? That's unpossible.
Im a big metal fan, but i was listening to this really slow, kinda davemathews type song by COldplay called yellow, that is a really emotional type song. ------------------ May I have another Snowball Clutch? Please may I? Ill be a good little mole.... I promise.
I'm moved by good poetry. I'm moved by well-scripted prose. I'm often moved by powerful movies or interesting novels. For some reason though, I have never been moved by song lyrics. Maybe that's why I prefer music with no words. *shrug* ------------------ My dream job is to be a Houston Rockets towel boy.
The end of '3 Libras' (A Perfect Circle) always gets to me. ------------------ Hey now, Hey now, don't Dream it's over...
For some reason, The Rain Song by Led Zeppelin always gets me very depressed. It's hard to narrow it down to the lyrics, though, because the music plays just as big a role in your mood as what the singer is saying. ------------------ "Of course, everything looks bad if you remember it!" Homer Simpson
Billy Squier's Nobody Knows from his "Don't Say No" album. I'll just post this link instead of repeating myself. http://bbs.clutchcity.net/ubb/Forum7/HTML/002418.html ------------------ Behad Sergeant at Arms of the Clutch BBS
I grew up listening to 80's music and most of that was Nu Wave, Techno, type stuff, and a lot of gangsta rap. But for some oddball reason I love Don Henley's music and he's one of the few artists whose lyrics I even bother listening to. I also loved Toby Keith's "How Do You Like Me Now" (for personal reasons... muhahaha), and yes, ugh... it's country. I also love the lyrics to about 3 of Randy Travis' songs : Forever and Ever Amen, Deeper than the Holler, and Hard Rock Bottom of Your Heart. I don't even listen to country music, but I love those songs for the lyrics. I also love the lyrics to the song "Living Years" by Mike & the Mechanics. If you've got dads you care about, listen to that song... that song is about the only song that can make me flat-out cry. I listen to gangsta rap for the beats, the thump and usually nothing more, but for some reason I always find myself listening to Tupac's songs and really taking in some of the lyrics. I'll add to my list as I think of them.. ------------------ "what if my aunt had balls?" -- in one fell swoop, bbs member verse expresses his dislike of "what if" scenarios and shows he has far too much idle time on his hands.
These lyrics always did move me: Touch my gun But don't pull my trigger Let's make history In the elevator Lock the door Shine my pistol some more Here I come Your Ten Second Lover -Motley Crue, "Ten Seconds to Love"
I've had that damn song stuck in my head for about a week now! RunninRaven: Don't be surprised about The Rain Song. Jimmy Page was a master of production and if he wanted the song to sound sad, it sounded SAD. ------------------ Me fail English? That's unpossible.
Man, there are so many songs that affect you in one way or the other. The ones that bring out the emotions ... wow, there are a few Janet songs out there that will make you go through all range of emotions. There are a few Bette Midler songs, Tupac for sure, and ENIGMA, I love their stuff! If I had to pick one song though, I'd say 'You' by Janet ... very powerful song. ------------------
I agree. The lyrics sung with the music is what it is meant to be. The two together is what gets me sweating on the dance floor. Examining the lyrics without the music is not really the writer's intent. Unless, of course, you are a Frank Zappa fan trying to freak out. The first time I heard Pat Benetar's "Hell is For Children" I turned the radio off sat back and tried to relax. It sounded to me like she was relating to a personal experience. Abusing a child is as low as someone can go in my book. ------------------ When we tire of well-worn ways, we seek for new. This restless craving in the souls of men spurs them to climb, and to seek the mountain view. -- Ella Wheeler Wilcox
On a lighter note, who here was affect by Joan Jett's video of the song "Do you wanna touch" ? ------------------ Behad Sergeant at Arms of the Clutch BBS
I totally know what you mean dude. I downloaded that mp3 back in november and every time i was using my computer i had it playing on repeat for a good week at least. Another song that always got to me was a Smashing Pumpkins song off of their Adore album. Not many pumpkins fans I know care for that cd too much but its my favorite by the pumpkins. The song that touched me the most was "For Martha" if you have to go don't say goodbye if you have to go don't you cry if you have to go I will get by I will follow you and see you on the other side IMO Billy Corgan is one of the best songwriters in the last 20 years. Have any of you ever had a song, or song lyrics that affect you in some way. made you happy or sad. What song or lyric? For me the Deftones song Change-"I watched a change in you; like you never had wings, I watched you change This song, and lyric remind me of how beatiful things can become in the blink of an eye. ------------------ May I have another Snowball Clutch? Please may I? Ill be a good little mole.... I promise.
November Rain by GNR is also a very emotional song that gets to me in the end: Don't you think that you need somebody Don't you think that you need someone Everybody needs somebody I'm not the only one I'm not the only one ------------------ "Of course, everything looks bad if you remember it!" Homer Simpson
So many songs have affected me that I couldn't even begin to list them. ------------------ Ceo of the Walt Williams fan club. Web site coming soon atheistalliance.org
some moving lyrics include" "Crash into Me" -Dave "Satellite" -Dave "Shimmer" -Fuel "We are the Champions" -Queen and of course... "The Eyes of Texas" ------------------ "Oh No..." -Bill Walton in 97 just before Stockton's buzzer beater
Whoever we are Wherever we're from We shoulda noticed by now Our behavior is dumb And if our chances Expect to improve It's gonna take a lot more Than tryin' to remove The other race Or the other whatever From the face Of the planet altogether They call it THE EARTH Which is a dumb kinda name But they named it right 'Cause we behave the same... *We are dumb all over* Dumb all over, Yes we are Dumb all over, Near 'n far Dumb all over, Black 'n white People, we is not wrapped tight Nurds on the left Nurds on the right Religous fanatics On the air every night Sayin' the Bible Tells the story Makes the details Sound real gory 'Bout what to do If the geeks over there Don't believe in the book We got over here You can't run a race Without no feet 'N pretty soon There won't be no street For dummies to jog on Or doggies to dog on Religous fanatics Can make it be all gone (I mean it won't blow up 'N disappear It'll just look ugly For a thousand years...) You can't run a country By a book of religion Not by a heap Or a lump or a smidgeon Of foolish rules Of ancient date Designed to make You all feel great While you fold, spindle And mutilate Those unbelievers From a neighboring state TO ARMS! TO ARMS! Hooray! That's great Two legs ain't bad Unless there's a crate They ship the parts To mama in For souvenirs: two ears *(Get Down!)* Not his, not hers, *(but what the hey?)* The Good Book says: *("It gotta be that way!")* But their book says: *"REVENGE THE CRUSADES... With whips 'n chains 'N hand grenades..."* TWO ARMS? TWO ARMS? Have another and another Our God says: *"There ain't no other!"* Our God says *"It's all okay!"* Our God says *"This is the way!"* It says in the book: *"Burn 'n destroy...* *'N repent, 'n redeem* *'N revenge, 'n deploy* *'N rumble thee forth* *To the land of the unbelieving scum on the other side* *'Cause they don't go for what's in the book* *'N that makes 'em BAD* *So verily we must choppeth them up* *And stompeth them down* *Or rent a nice French bomb* *To poof them out of existance *While leaving their real estate just where we need it* *To use again* *For temples in which to praise OUR GOD* *("Cause he can really take care of business!")* And when his humble TV servant With humble white hair And humble glasses And a nice brown suit And maybe a blond wife who takes phone calls Tells us our God says It's okay to do this stuff Then we gotta do it, 'Cause if we don't do it, We ain't gwine up to *hebbin!* (Depending on which book you're using at the time...Can't use theirs... it don't work ...it's all lies...Gotta use mine...) Ain't that right? That's what they say Every night... Every day... Hey, we can't really be dumb If we're just following *God's Orders* Hey, let's get serious... God knows what he's doin' He wrote this book here An' the book says: *He made us all to be just like Him," so... If we're dumb... Then God is dumb... *(An' maybe even a little ugly on the side)* Mr Frank Zappa To those that have seen this before...sorry ------------------ Everything you do, effects everything that is.
