Why would the Rockets agree to switch positions with Orlando? I'll tell you why!

There has to be a deal in the works. The Rockets dont want 3 first round picks, at least that is what we have been hearing. The 18th pick will not be used by the Rockets unless it is the only pick we have. Where are the Rocket gods when we need them.(OP, Doc) CLUTCH are you keeping something from us?

The only thing I've been keeping from anyone is how the workouts went... I know about how 4 or 5 key ones went but have been told information strictly off the record, etc. It's been frustrating to receive info I can't post, but I know how it goes. When I can post stuff I certainly will.

I don't know anything about any deals in the works, though it wouldn't surprise me at all if the Rockets wanted the #18 badly enough to give up a spot at #22. A month ago I heard the Rockets didn't want the 18th pick at all, so it is somewhat surprising.

I may be wrong, but I bet you can cross off the Grizz now as trade partners. The 18th pick has little value now to them (they must be so pissed after Detroit sent a first rounder to Orlando to block this) and the 6th pick could get them Jason Richardson.

LOL Crisco- common draft huh? Is that Sim League lingo getting to your head?

What we need to do is to convince Clutch to join. That would be the day... [IMG]

The next time I have meat and mashed potatoes, I think I'll put a very large blob of potatoes on my plate with just a little piece of meat. And if someone asks me why i didn't get more meat, ill just say, "Oh, you mean this?" and pull out a big piece of meat from inside the blob of potatoes, where ive hidden it. Good magic trick, huh?

Don't make something out of nothing.

When absorbing all of this 23rd for 22 pick nonsense, it seems that:

    a) The 18th pick is obviously very important to the Rockets.
    b) The Rockets are going to trade the 23 away anyway, so it doesn't matter.
    c) The Rockets have their eyes on a player available later than the projected 22/23 split so trading down is unimportant.
    d) a & b
    e) a & c

I'm going for e. Terance, Terrence, whatever Morris will be available at that late slot. Obviously the Magic aren't going to pick him when they already sport Miller, Hill and McGrady. This should jump out immediately when reviewing today's swap. Morris had strong workouts in Houston and played at his best next to Stevie in college, etc. He's a senior to boot.

Putting that and since75's previous Jefferson comments together it seems that a SF late in the draft is the only answer(since White and Battier will be gone by 13, pretty much only leaving Morris and Jefferson). It should also jump out that I'm begging the question that SF has to be answered this draft. Shandon opts out, Jefferson "isn't the solution", Morris has a strong workout, Morris has a history w/ Steve. Yadda yadda yadda.

Ahhhh.... SFs. Ahhhhh.... bets. Ahhhhh... Uinta Cutthroat. Shandon opts out and we lose a starting 3. Walt's perfect from the bench, Langhi is perfect late at night jumping over fences and into oncoming traffic.

heyBetMe, count me in. There will be a new SF by 11/01. Hell, there'll be a new starting SF before 07/01... but that's not the bet.

I have to disagree. The 18th pick is part of something big. Maybe it has to do with adding chips to trade for a Webber sign and trade deal. Maybe it will be used in conjuction with Heyp's idea on KVH and the 6th pick. I dont know but it will be interesting.

"Langhi is perfect late at night jumping over fences and into oncoming traffic."

When I read this, I spilled the water I was trying to swallow onto my shirt. That's hilarious.

For the future. I go I copy quotes the way the rest of you guys do?? Thanks.

    Clutch,

I understand that you cannot reveal any information about how specific players fared in workouts. I am, however, curious if you can discuss the nature of the workouts you've heard about. Last year, in your draft recap, you said that the trade for Langhi was no surprise, because he absolutely tore it up for the Rockets in their workouts. Of the workouts you've heard reports on, has there been anyone this year who has either "torn it up" or has stood out from the rest as a possible draft candidate? If you can't say, I understand that, and I know you can't discuss specific players... just wondering if you had heard if any one or two workouts had been standouts compared to the rest.

Some players have passed through Westside that have obviously caught Rudy and CDs attention. Some solid seniors are going to be pushed down around the 18th spot due to high schoolers. Heard an interview on the radio today with Orlando GM Pat Williams and he said the top teams in the lottery know these high schoolers can't help a team right away and sum of them could end up a bust, but he said every GM is scared to death on passing them up because Kobe slipped through the cracks as a 13th pick and the same goes for McGrady. He was asked who he would take as the #1 pick and he said without a dought Kwame Brown.

If the Kings lose Webber, they may be willing to do a sign and trade to take on some salary that will expire in one year(Walt) in exchange for the 18th and 23rd. The Rockets can sign him outright so they may budge.

The Kings need to get a PF and this may help them. Why would I want the rockets to do this.....Hakeem. I will miss him.

This is all clear as mud to me, but I do think #23 will be Terrence Morris.

Trading for Webber could very well be the case here. Walt, KT, and #13, perhaps, since the Kings want to save on the salary cap.

With #18, though, who to take? Ken Johnson?

Well, it's all speculation, but something great will happen. Webber or Van Horn as power forward, with Terrence Morris and someone else from the draft.
